Sunday 3rd June - BATL Quartet

Brandon Allen and Tim Lapthorn have been performing together for over 16 years. The saxophonist and pianist have played in various quartet formation formations at Ronnie Scott's which has led to this dynamic project featuring brand new material written by the two players, channelling their respective influences. Both musicians are known for their passionate and exciting style of playing, sharing a chemistry and intuition that pushes the music in new directions, whilst always retaining a great sense of melody and swing. The quartet is completed by experienced double-bass player Arnie Somogyi and the fresh talent of Lloyd Haines on drums.

Sunday 10th June - Simon Allen

Simon has established himself as a leading light on the London jazz scene. An alto and tenor saxophonist, he has already built up a CV that includes playing with Stan Tracey, Don Weller and the big bands of Jamie Cullum and Laurence Cottle. He was a member of Clark Tracey's band for over 7 years and has also appeared in horn sections with a huge array of pop artists. He is one of the most exciting improvisers around today and appears tonight with Simon Carter (piano), Laurence Cottle (bass) and Jack Pollitt (drums).

Sunday 17th June - Peter Jones Quartet

Peter Jones is a well-established jazz singer based in London. He has performed at venues throughout the country and has also appeared at The Cork Jazz Festival. His biography of Mark Murphy, This Is Hip, was published in March, and he is due to sing at a special Mark Murphy commemoration event in Denver, Colorado, later this year. His three albums have received great critical acclaim and In its review of Under the Setting Sun, his self-penned 2017 album, London Jazz News said: 'The level of creativity and skill on offer makes this a valuable and important collection for anyone remotely interested in contemporary jazz singing and songwriting.' He is joined tonight by pianist Leon Greening, with Andrew Cleyndert on bass and Adam Osmianski on drums.

Sunday 24th June - Al Cherry

Al is one of the most in demand guitarists in London, and is frequently seen playing with major jazz, blues and commercial artists. He was a featured soloist with Paloma Faith during her Electric Prom at The Royal Albert Hall, and he has also worked with the likes of Rumer, Lisa Stansfield and Carleen Anderson. He has regularly appeared at Ronnie Scott's and it's always a pleasure to welcome him back to Boaters. Joining him are Simon Carter on piano, Laurence Cottle on bass and drummer Ian Thomas.
