This is a very kind offer which I have been carefully considering.

I suspect, however, that you already know full well exactly how the
PC
in question was attacked and disabled. Do you have a record of the
'warning' message that was displayed when trying to boot the machine?
(white text on a black background). I just cannot recall the detail.

Someone explained on U2U that the only time that *they* had ever seen
such a warning was after a very serious virus attack on a computer.
You
are bound to remember that!

I've also found another thread with lots of technical information
which
might just jog your memory.

https://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics/browse_thread/thread/2aad73088fd939c6/2750f31738c0aac7?hl=en&lnk=gst&q=%22Gerry+Cornell%22%2BBoaterDave#2750f31738c0aac7

This was, of course, before I had ever heard of Annexcafe User2User!

One last point. Do you believe you have sufficient acumen to carry out
a
forensic examination of a hard disk? Are you professionally qualified
or
simply a hobbyist?
