Hi Fred -
Hope all is well - I know you're likely busy with sorting through your Christmas things, but was hoping you could send this around to the Dog Park crowd.

There is a proposal for the property at 48th and Chester - please see the attached zoning notice.  CPN is not the lead RCO here - it's Southwest District Services - but it's a Zoom meeting open to the public.  I thought some of the dog park folks might be interested.  Thursday 12/17, 6:00 pm, all info in the attached flyer.  Could you please send this around to the list, or to Nan?

Thanks -

Kathy

Well well. Took him a while to get to this point. And it will be a long time more.   Just when we were going to contact them. Da&n.

Wow - 83 units? Danielle's not going to be happy about that :).

Do you want me to post this on the dog Park website?

And - shouldn't we forward it to the full dog park members list as well?

I think we have several obligations here. Maybe more than I list below.

  • Following our obligation to find a new dog park. This news precludes going to talk to Renaissance. Or does it?
  • Informing as many neighbors as we can about the zoning event on Dec 17. So, yes, send the the notice to the membership and post on our website.
  • In a follow up memo to the membership, inviting folks we what to help us find at least a temporary home for the dog park until the Woodlands gets back to us.
  • Holding further discussion about how we can influence the Woodlands to stick by their plan to let us have the ball field.
  • Other?

I can’t believe this slipped past me. So much for watching it like a hawk. I’m curious when this all went into action.

  • Following our obligation to find a new dog park. This news precludes going to talk to Renaissance. Or does it?
I think for the moment it would be wise to not approach them. If recent zoning drama around West Philly are any indication of what is to come, I think we would be better off supporting the neighborhood for the time-being rather than pursuing this for our own agenda.

  • Informing as many neighbors as we can about the zoning event on Dec 17. So, yes, send the the notice to the membership and post on our website.
100% and if there is a desire to do a flyers I’m happy to do any graphic design or printing

  • In a follow up memo to the membership, inviting folks we what to help us find at least a temporary home for the dog park until the Woodlands gets back to us.
Can’t hurt, but let's wait till we have pursued the option below.

  • Holding further discussion about how we can influence the Woodlands to stick by their plan to let us have the ball field.
I have a few a few thoughts on this. First, I fully support trying to pushing things with the Woodlands. I’m curious if we could apply some gentle pressure by getting both the endorsement of local elected officials — Jamie Gauthier and Krajewski both come to mind. Also maybe we should consider doing an online petition. We use this as an opportunity to educate our friends and neighbors while also showing greater neighborhood support for a dog park at the Woodlands.

I will post the notice on our website.

And I agree with Tyler - we really can't approach Renaissance now when there is going to be a lot of neighborhood concern about this proposal.

I will send something to the membership asking for people to join in a reconstituted Relocation Committee. I will ask the previous members if they want to sign up.

I will not contact Renaissance. I will be thinking about ways we can influence Woodlands to go ahead with the Dog Park - and put that on the next meeting agenda.
