I am late in getting this out - apologies.

A reminder that your nonprofit tax return is due by May 15th. Organizations whose gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less can file a Form 990-N, which is also referred to as a “990 Postcard.”  More information about the 990-N is at https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/annual-electronic-filing-requirement-for-small-exempt-organizations-form-990-n-e-postcard

Before you start, make sure you have the following information handy:

  • Employer identification number (EIN)
  • Legal name and mailing address
  • Any other names the organization uses
  • Name and address of a principal officer
  • Web site address if the organization has one
  • Confirmation that the organization’s annual gross receipts are $50,000 or less (you’ll just check a box but you should have run end of year financial statements to make sure you qualify)

There is no state tax return required for nonprofits.

As always, let me know any questions, or if you need help filing.

All the best,

Nadia
