MiSSION needs volunteers to help make an extremely important survival program possible this winter. Please join us for this meeting to learn more about how you can help.
Between December 31st and April 12th last year, the Purple House at 3501 Stone School Rd. was open every night as an emergency shelter from 6pm - 8am. We helped 73 people experiencing homelessness stay out of the cold, most of whom were unable to access the Delonis Center homeless shelter and therefore had nowhere else to go.
We had a small group of volunteers make this happen last year, and by April they were completely burned out. We believe that a collective and more organized approach will make this more sustainable, safer, and more comfortable for everyone. Many hands make light work!
Weather Amnesty needs volunteers in many different roles to step up to make this an option for our unhoused neighbors during the coldest months of the year. These include:
being onsite overnight
shopping and delivering groceries/supplies
cooking dinner/breakfast
laundering blankets / sleeping bags
