Thank you so much for your inspiring generosity by so many members of our St. Mary's and
More family; you are members of St Mary's and additional Catholic
parishes, of Christian congregations, Buddhists, and every day citizens
with good hearts. You fill out the signup lists and then keep giving.
Because
of you, our dear friends experiencing poverty and homelessness
participated in a joyful, abundant Christmas celebration. We started
early in the morning with breakfast - bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes,
hash browns and gallons of coffee, then moved to a beautiful dinner
lovingly made - brisket,
hams, turkeys, kielbasa, gravy, pies, cakes, lovingly decorated cookies
and so much more goodness.
Meanwhile,
at the front of the house, your gifts of warm boots, coats, sleeping
bags, gloves, snuggly blankets and other sparkly presents were
distributed to grateful and excited guests. The celebration closed with
live music and joyful dancing. One of my most vivid memories is of the
procession of friend after friend, making the
celebration happen with more and even more gifts of every description.
As
I try to convey our immense gratitude for all of this light and love on
the Feast of St. Stephen, I wonder if Paul, perhaps subconsciously, was
inspired by Stephen's powerful love. If so, then Stephen did not then
know how his witness may have impacted Paul and through Paul, many.
Likewise, you may not know how your generous love impacts those who
watch. We are so grateful for you, your loving generosity and your
impactful witness.
In gratitude - Mercy House
