We just wanted to give you a quick update on the awesome trip we had up to the Klamath River on the last weekend of Spring Break to meet with representatives from Natural Resources Office of the Karuk Tribe. Since we are approaching exam-fun-time, we'll keep the words few and the pictures many :)
1) Thanks to all who've been following up and asking about the trip!
2) The meeting was VERY productive! As you'll see from the meeting notes we chatted about many substantive topics and issues affecting the tribe and ways students at the law school can help.
3) The Tribe has projects that need good people working on them (see attached "Craig Tucker" .doc). Moreover, the Tribe has several attorney's who work in the immediate Bay Area. That means that if you thinking about a SLIP for next semester, there are projects and attorney's to supervise!
4) Professor Doremus graciously extended herself and offered to supervise those who wanted to do a 298 or 299 paper on a topic of relevance to the tribe ("Craig's-List" is by no means exhaustive!)
5) POT-LUCK Style BBQ 1733 DERBY ST. BERKELEY from 5:30-7:30 This Tuesday FOR ALL THOSE INTERESTED TO FOLLOW UP AND CHAT ABOUT NEXT SEMESTER! - We'll have some Asada and other savories, but please bring a dish (chips, salsa, guac, drinks, preferred protein you'd like grilled etc. etc.)
6) As promised: PHOTOS!!
