Dear all volunteers,

I hope that you are looking forward to our next event already. In this email, you will find our detailed agenda for the Halloween party at Beijing International Garden Expo, as well as our general volunteer recruitment information(including description of our school, program, students and volunteers). We would welcome a big number of volunteers this time, up to 15-20 in total. Tickets, transportation to the park and take-away lunch packages will be all provided from our sponsored program. But do bring a pen with you, as we need it for one of the activities.

As we need to make reservation on the group ticket,  the deadline for signing up as volunteers is by 9am, 22nd October. And please try to give me confirmed information as we'll need to get the payment for ticket purchase in advance.  We look forward to having you on our event, and please spread the word!

Much obliged!

 About us:

BN Vocational School (BNVS), a non-governmental organization established in 2005, is China’s first tuition-free, charitable vocational school at the senior secondary level. It is also one of the targeted schools subsidized by the Vocational Education Fund of the China Youth Development Foundation.

BNVS provides free quality vocational education for underprivileged youth. All graduates will obtain secondary vocational education diplomas after passing relevant vocational qualification examinations and internship assessment. All graduates have obtained employment successfully. This has tremendously transformed the lives not only of the youth but of their families.

Thus far, BNVS has established campuses in 9 cities, including Beijing, Chengdu, Nanjing, Sanya, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Dalian, Yinchuan and Lijiang. As of today, BNVS has helped over 4,000 impoverished youth receive free vocational education and attain stable employment.

About English Access Program:
English Access Program, an initiative of the United States Embassy in China and the United States Department of State, is a global program which aims to help the disadvantaged youth to have better jobs through English teaching.

The program is in great need of volunteers (English Teaching Assistant) who can lead students in groups, help them with oral English practice and assist running the overall event.

About Students in the Program:
There are 80 students in our program, which are all from disadvantaged backgrounds and couldn’t continue school out of family economic reasons. After one-year’s study at our school, these students are doing fulltime internships for a year in different hotels and companies. Every month they come back to school one day for continuous class with further support to their work, including our events. Their oral English is mostly at entry level, though some better. They often need encouragement and help to be able to speak English out loud, which is where our volunteers come in.

When?
The Access Program takes place monthly on the last Saturday of each month in this school year. Most of the events require half of a day(1pm-5pm), though occasionally we spend a whole day going on a field trip(8am-5pm). For example, on October 26th we are having a day-trip in China (Beijing) International Garden Expo. Specific dates and themes of events are as follows:
    Sep 28th,  Oct 26th, ,  Nov 30th,  Dec 28th  2013
    Feb 22nd,  Mar 29th,  Apr 26th,  May 31st,  Jun 28th  2014
Summer camp: A week in late June – early July(to be decided)
We fully understand that volunteers may not be able to join us every time. But all events are independent of each other, you are welcome to sign up for event just one event.

Where?
BNVS is located at No.51, Wangjing West Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, within walking distance of Wangjing West subway station.
Our events are held either on campus or in an off-campus facility that requires a short bus ride. It would be the best if you could come to our campus for a brief meeting before we actually start.
Who?
BNVS seeks English Teaching Assistant with the following characteristics and qualifications:
       18 years or older
Have a compassionate heart for migrant youth
Fluent English, preferably native speaker, not a must
Preferably some knowledge of Chinese, not a must
    Preferably some teaching experience

For any further information, please refer to our website: http://en.bnvs.cn/index.asp

If you or any of your friends are interested in joining, please contact Ms. May Chengnan Wu at 137 1603 1900 or cn...@bnvs.cn .

Thanks for your attention, and please spread the word!
