It’s everyone’s worst nightmare...
A home break-in.
It doesn’t matter if you were out and the house was empty, or you were asleep upstairs - knowing your home was compromised can feel like a huge violation.
Some burglars target homes for the jewellery, technology or valuables. Others break into homes to get their hands on the car keys so they can drive off into the night with your pride and joy.
There’s nothing you can do that will 100% guarantee that your home won’t be targeted. But that doesn’t mean you have to be a sitting duck either!
Much like the rest of us, burglars don’t want to work any harder than they have to - And they definitely don’t want to get caught!
So there are some simple steps you can take to secure your home and make it less inviting to potential burglars.
If your house looks more secure and like a higher risk - they’re much more likely to keep on moving down the street leaving you, your family and your home alone.
So what can you do to make your home look uninviting?
1 - High-quality door and window locks are your first line of defence.
Make sure all your door and window locks are compliant with British Standard 3621 and that you have a 3* 6 pin drill resistant cylinders in UPVC doors.
Many burglars are opportunistic - they’ll try their luck and if the locks put up a fight they move on to the next target down the street.
2 - Get a burglar alarm - A dummy bell box won’t cut the mustard!
Statistics show that 7 out of 10 homes in the UK do not have an alarm system! If your house is the only one on the street without an alarm - which house are the burglars going to target?
