Knock, knock…

Who’s there?

It’s a good question to ask. As times get tougher we’re bound to see an increase in home invasions and burglaries as more people turn to crime.

When someone knocks on your door do you know who it is before you answer?

Technology has revolutionised the world.

We’ve got cars that can drive themselves, Alexa that can play your favourite music, order stuff from Amazon or call your best friend all with a voice command and now robot dogs that enforce social distancing in the park!

But it’s not just transport, entertainment and… well, I have no idea what category the robot dogs fit into… that are getting a tech-revolution.

The home security industry is too - and it’s making it tougher for criminals to get away with their dirty deeds.

A little while ago we installed a Ring Video Doorbell for a customer, Karen.

Now, if you haven’t heard of it before the Ring Doorbell is a motion censored, wifi connected and app-controlled doorbell that lets you see who comes to your door - even when you’re not at home.

With video and photo capture, you can see and record exactly who comes to your house - but that’s not all. You can speak to them and hear their replies too.

So Karen recently got in touch to tell me a little story.

One day while she was out, her Ring app showed a man trying to open their front door. No knocking. No ringing the bell. Just walking up to the house, looking around, then trying to get in.

Scary right?

Luckily Karen is a customer of ours, so her locks were secure and the man didn’t gain entry

Karen contacted the police and sent them the video footage with nice clear shots of the man’s face!

A few weeks went by and she heard nothing… then the police got in touch

It turned out that the man was responsible for more than 17 burglaries! And the footage Karen provided had helped hold him accountable and press charges.

Price of a Ring doorbell? £195

Catching a criminal? Priceless!

If you’d like to learn more about the Ring doorbell then just give us a call on 0800 0191 101 - we’ll be happy to help!

PS - It’s not just catching criminals - the Ring Doorbell can help you keep tabs on who enters your house when your teens are home alone, show you who let your tyres down or give you video proof that the delivery driver really IS throwing your parcels over your fence too!
