Hard times bring out people’s true colours.

We’ve seen some acts of serious selfishness - toilet roll hoarders, looters and the most bizarre of them all - people deliberately licking supermarket goods and public transport handrails!

But we’ve seen extraordinary acts of kindness too.

When the government put out a call for 250,000 volunteers to support those in need during isolation more than 750,000 people stepped up!

These volunteers are going out every day, giving up their time and risking their lives to deliver necessities such as food and medicines to people who are shielding and unable to go out.

These people, along with our NHS staff and other keyworkers are the real superheroes of today.

Earlier this week we had the opportunity to give back to one of these selfless superheroes.

We received a call from a young man who had accidentally locked himself out of his car whilst on his community delivery rounds!

He was very distressed.

His car was full of food and medicine that needed to be delivered and might go bad if left in the heat for too long!

We hopped in the van and rushed to his aid.

Just 20 minutes later the car was unlocked and our superhero volunteer was back on his rounds delivering to those most in need.

A callout like this would usually cost around £95+ VAT but we didn’t charge - We need cash as much as any business right now but these volunteers are what’s keeping our society together.

I’m just grateful for the opportunity to give a little back in return…

Have you been able to give back to the community? If so I’d love to hear about it?
