Hi Fellow Mavericks,

I met with both the Sheraton and Panos regarding Visitor Day.  Sheraton will not work because of room rental requirements and higher prices for food.  I checked the room at Panos and it's quite nice, main level behind the dining room and can accommodate up to 100 ppl.  I went ahead and put a hold on the room and paid a deposit of $100 which George said would be returned to me if we meet a 50 person minimum.  I figured this would be a safe number since even if we each bring 1 Visitor we're in good shape.  Last year, according to Best Western, we had 70 ppl.  They are not able to accommodate us this year.  Back to Pano's . . .  If we don't reach 50 people total, we will have to pay a $50 room rental fee PLUS I lose my $100.

Here's the pricing for both Continental Breakfast and Full Buffet Breakfast.  George feels that with a large group like this the meeting would flow easier if we would just do the Continental since people tend to linger longer in a buffet line and it takes a lot longer to eat.  Having been in the business I have to agree.  Please let me know your preference:

Continental Breakfast - $10.50pp + 18% gratuity + 5.1% tax = $13.02 per person

Coffee, Rolls, Juice, Fruit

Buffet Breakfast - $12.95 pp + 18% gratuity + 5.1% tax = $16.06 per person

Scrambled eggs; bacon; sausage; french toast; juice; coffee; fruit

Thanks everyone . . . . .. GO PACK! . . . . . Have a great Sunday!

Val

I am fine keeping it simple with a Continental Breakfast.

It seems pointless to comment that I am fine with the continental too, but I do want to be a team player, so I say continental also. J

Seem's it is worth the extra $3.  If we don't want to look cheap.
Maxim's has a room downstairs and I know the owner.  But it is on Capitol.  You can check it out or I will if you want.

My initial thought was the same about the buffet.  I do not think it is about being cheap.  I thought about last time and many people barely ate since they were talking to others.  The buffet forces people to sit down and eat and can take away from the ability to mingle and network.  We want people to come in and meet a number of members and have members get a feel who the visitors are and if they would fit into the group.

I think the continental breakfast keeps things simple and easier for our stated purpose of getting the message out and meeting prospective members.
