Hi Anjali,

I was surprised to see my name been removed from the BNI Triton whatsapp group without any prior information yesterday.

Subsequent to our telecon today, I was informed that I have been removed from BNI Triton Chapter because of non submission of the letters for the visitors day.

This is not a professional approach and can harm my business repute. Further more I have to cancel the visitors lined up for tomm visitors day as I got to know about it yesterday only.

Request you to pls share a logical reason for the same as this is a very serious question mark on me & my company’s reputation which I have built during the last two and a half years in BNI.

Pls take this on priority.

Kind regards,

Taksh K Dass

Dear All,

First of all, my regards to all of you and thank you for the wonderful experience that I have had for the past five months at BNI Triton.

I had for the first time been introduced to BNI by Mr. Taksh K. Dass sometime in early 2015 by inviting me to a Visitor’s day held in Orient Room, Asiad Village. On being introduced to the concept and seeing such accomplished entrepreneurs enthusiastically attending a meeting at 7:29 am every week, week upon week, and making active efforts to refer business to one another, I was extremely impressed and I was very keen on joining as a member as soon as possible.

When I did not receive any communication from BNI Triton for a few months, I contacted Mr. Taksh K. Dass again and told him that in case it was not possible to give me membership in BNI Triton since there were already two lawyers in the chapter and only one person from each professional category was allowed, I would be more than happy to be introduced to some other chapter since I was extremely enthusiastic about joining BNI. It was under these circumstances that I was once again invited to attend another meeting and after taking the consent of Ameeta and Shohit, I joined BNI Triton.

In retrospect, I am extremely happy to have joined BNI as it gave me an opportunity to be associated with some wonderful people. My biggest shortcoming as an entrepreneur had always been my inability to go out and market my business with the panache and finesse that any successful enterprise required. Due to my association with such fantastic people who had years of experience in selling their respective products or services, I feel that today, I am much better equipped to market my services than I  was prior to joining BNI.

However, not all good things last forever and neither did this. I was given to understand that the chapter had not been performing up to expected levels and due to the same, there was growing discontent amongst the members and leadership alike. This discontent finally precipitated in the meeting held on 03.02.2016, when a lot of members resigned from the chapter and we were left with a strength of less than 12 and the chapter had to be placed under suspension. However, on the assurance of the Executive Directors, I believed that while one small battle may have been lost, the war was still on, and I was extremely upbeat and enthusiastic about reviving the chapter. During the course of the next several meetings, a plan of action in accordance with the BNI Rules & Regulations was drawn up and it was decided that after holding a Visitor’s Day on 30.03.2016, we would re-launch the chapter. Like a chapter in BNI, any business can fall upon bad times and what is required at such times is not internal squabble, but a concerted joint effort to set things right, for which I spared no effort, with the result that today I can say with a fair degree of conviction and satisfaction that I have played my part in the success of the visitor’s day on 30.03.2016.

However, in the meanwhile, certain developments took place which I firmly believe, are not befitting an organization of this stature. On 29th March, 2016 (one day prior to the visitor's day), Mr. Dass was removed from the BNI Triton Whatsapp Group. On enquiry, it was revealed that he had been removed by the Executive Directors on account of his failure to submit twenty invitation letters to be sent to his prospective visitors. This, I am given to understand, led to a grave loss of face to the member in front of his confirmed visitors. In this entire process, not only did the chapter lose a member, but also a number of visitors, who could have contributed to the betterment of the chapter. In this regard, an e-mail was also sent by the member and thereafter, immediately after the visitor's day, a meeting was held in Sheraton, Saket, which attended by Mr. Dass, the respected Executive Directors and several members, including myself.

I sincerely believe that while the Executive Directors may be absolutely within their powers to remove a member, in their extremely respected position, it was at least expected of them that if not warn the member in advance, they could at least have informed him of their decision well in advance, and this was precisely the concern which I voiced during the said meeting. However, I was informed that since the member had not met the chapter goals, he was removed and the Executive Directors were well within their powers to do so. Without for a moment doubting the same, I believe that it was not in the fitness of things that a member who has put in 2+ years in the chapter should be removed in this manner.

If an organisation permits such humiliation of a fellow member, I would be really apprehensive of introducing my visitors/ contact sphere, without the fear of a similar treatment being meted out to them in the reasonably foreseeable future. Therefore, I feel that I no belong in BNI Triton. Hence, with a heavy heart, I bid my goodbyes to BNI Triton and hereby tender my resignation therefrom.

Abhishek, while I appreciate your requests for returning to the chapter, I feel that this is not something my conscience and self respect permits me to do.

Regards,
Anuj Handa

P.S. Anupam/ Anjali, I understand that you have contacted some of my visitors. I request you to kindly refrain from the same. They will eventually turn to me seek advice on whether to join. At such time, I wil be in a quandrary as in all honesty, I will not be able to recommend that they join and I would not want to wash dirty linen in public by sharing the reasons for quitting.

Dear Anuj

This entire episode is very unfortunate. It is indeed a sad parting and I wish, it had not happened.

My best wishes
