לאחר מאבק משותף ארוך שנים של ישראלים ופלסטינים נראה שמדיניות האפרטהייד בחברון מתחילה להיסדק.
לאחר שנים רבות של הטלת מגבלות דרקוניות על האוכלוסייה הפלסטינית וניהול מדיניות של טיהור אתני זוחל של הפלסטינים מחלקים נרחבים מהעיר, הודיע הצבא שהוא מתעתד לפתוח את ציר ציון המוביל למערת המכפלה לרכבים פלסטינים. בעתיד ישקול הצבא גם לפתוח למעבר הולכי רגל את רח' השוהדא, שכזכור היה המרכז המסחרי השוקק של העיר, ואת פתיחתם של כמאה חנויות בו. http://glz.msn.co.il/newsArticle.aspx?newsid=35448
שינוי מבורך זה ישנה את פניה של חברון. הוא יאפשר לאוכלוסיה הפלסטינית שתחת שליטה ישראלית, להתחיל לשקם את עצמה וישחרר אותה במעט מעולו האכזרי של הכיבוש.
למודי אכזבות, אנו מקווים שהפעם באמת יעמוד הצבא בדיבורו ויתחולל שינוי ממשי בחברון. אנו מברכים על צעד זה וקוראים לצבא ולמשטרה למנוע מהמתנחלים לטרפד את המהלך ההכרחי והצודק באמצעות אלימות בלתי מרוסנת והבערת השטח כמנהגם ימים ימימה.
אם אכן חל שינוי בעמדת הצבא ולא מדובר שוב בניסיון הטעיה, הרי שהוא הושג לאחר מאבק משותף ולא אלים עיקש של גיוס דעת הקהל הישראלית והבין לאומית, עידוד לחץ דיפלומטי על ישראל, הפגנות משותפות של יהודים ופלסטינים, עתירות לבג"ץ, תיעוד עוולות הכיבוש, נוכחות מתמדת בשטח ושאר אמצעים לא אלימים.
אולם המאבק רחוק מסיומו. עלינו לדאוג שצעדים אלו אכן ייושמו. עוד יותר מכך עלינו להיאבק שצעד זה לא יהווה רק שינוי קוסמטי של ארגון הכיבוש בצורה פחות מכוערת, אלא שלב ראשון בסיומו. עלינו להמשיך את המאבק המשותף והלא אלים על סיום הכיבוש בחברון.
עכשיו אנחנו יודעים שהמאבק הזה יכול להצליח.!
ביקור סולידאריות להמשך המאבק
ביום ששי ג' באדר (27 בפברואר), נציין את המשך המאבק בביקור סולידאריות בחברון על מנת לחזק את השותפות היהודית פלסטינית במאבק הלא אלים על סיום מלא של הכיבוש בעיר.

The Developments in Hebron and Continuation of Non-Violent Struggle
After several years of joint struggle by Israelis and Palestinians, it seems that the apartheid policy in Hebron is beginning to crack.
After many years of draconian restrictions on the Palestinian population and the administration of a policy of gradual ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from wide swaths of the city, the IDF announced that it intends to open the main road that leads to the Tomb of the Patriarchs to Palestinian vehicular traffic. In the future, the military will also consider whether to open a-Shuhada Street—which had been the bustling commercial center of the city—to pedestrians, and whether to allow about 100 of its businesses to re-open.
This welcome shift will change the face of Hebron, allowing the Palestinian population that is under Israeli control to begin to reestablish itself, freeing this population from a small portion of the cruel yoke of occupation. There is no doubt that this change will offer the population some empowerment about their future.
We welcome this step and call upon the military and the police to prevent the settlers from scuttling this necessary and reasonable process with unrestrained violence and provocations that inflame the area.
This policy change was achieved through a persistent joint, non-violent struggle that involved the mobilization of public consciousness in Israel and internationally, diplomatic pressure on Israel, joint protests of Jews and Palestinians, appeals to the Israeli High Court, careful documentation of the injustices of occupation, constant presence in the field, and other non-violent means.
Nonetheless, the struggle is far from over. We must take care that the indicated steps forward will indeed occur. Even more than this, we must struggle to ensure that this step does not become simply a cosmetic change that makes the occupation seem less ugly, but that it is a first step towards its end. We must continue the joint, non-violent struggle for the end of occupation in Hebron. Now we know that this struggle can succeed.
On Friday, 27 February (3 Adar), we will mark the continuation of the struggle with a solidarity visit to Hebron aimed at strengthening the Jewish-Palestinian partnership in the non-violent struggle for the complete end to occupation in the city.
