Hi Keith, hi Marcel,

let me try to add two topics:

1) Messages 660/ 6F1 have been sniffed while an OBD2-Tool was connected and standard informations (like all OBD capable cars and mororbikes have to provide) are requested. Didn't dig deeper into this world though. Arduino/MCP.. (can't recall the number) ist capable of sending CAN messages.

2) You don't need the genuine Plug/Socket for the Alarm system - it's pretty expensive even in Germany. Just tap into the wiring loom, but be careful to keep the terminating resistor connected at the end of the CAN bus.

Hi Keith!

Thanks for getting back to me!

Yeah I saw that is what most people are doing, unfortunately getting my hands on the repair / alarm plug in South Africa is going to be a story, will have to ship it here and that makes everything double or triple the price, guess that's what I'll have to do to tinker on,

Also good job on the WunderLINQ, hopefully one day I can buy one as I'd love to tinker with that!, do you think with the WunderLINQ you could connect to the iPhone as a "Bluetooth Assistive Touch" pointing device/mouse and control any app/iOS with the wonder wheel?

Anyway I'll stay in touch and share what I find along the way

All the best
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Most of us are tapping CAN lines elsewhere like the alarm, cluster, or RDC connectors.  I'm personally not sure how or if you can expose all the CANbus messages through the OBD port pins.

Hi there,

I am trying to access the can bus line to do some can sniffing on the obd2 port underneath my F850gs seat, it is the 16 pin rectangular connector (car type) and not the 10pin circular bmw connector.

My trouble is that no matter what I do I only get one constant stream of the same message on there....

Bus,MessageID,Message,MessageLength
0,0x130,0xf7ffffffffff1f0c,8
0,0x130,0xf7ffffffffff1f0c,8
0,0x130,0xf7ffffffffff1f0c,8
0,0x130,0xf7ffffffffff1f0c,8

looking at your xls document that you have put together, I see:

660 -
CAN Answer to OBD2-Request 6F1
6F1 -
OBD2-Request

am I correct in assuming that to access the can bus system on the obd2 port I have to first request access with the above?

any help would be much appreciated

all the best
Marcel
