Hi,

I have a K47 S1000R and want to pull telemetry into Racechrono. I have read so many forum posts and honestly have just gotten more confused. I think I have one or two main blockers that once I have the answer, I can work my way through the rest.

My first question revolves around OBD2 vs Canbus. I have a OBD2 port in the passenger compartment and when I plug my OBDLink LX+ into it and run Motoscan, I get telemetry. However, when i go to racechrono and try to pull OBD data, it is unable to find anything.

Is it a wrong assumption that since I plugged into the OBD port and got data through the motoscan app that the data is formatted in an OBD format? Is BMW communicating over some proprietary format that Racechrono will not understand?

That has lead me to think that I need to connect to the canbus connector in the passenger compartment. I found this post that shows what each pin is and then what pin relates to it on the OBD side of the adapter.

I would like to wire up my own adapter, but I do not know what the name of the connector is and my googling has not helped.

Does it sounds reasonable that my plan is to make my own adapter that I can plug my OBDLink LX+ into and then configure racechrono with the PIDs I want to record? Is there an off the shelf cable that I could use instead of making one myself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tobias
