Dear Members,

Wish you happy festive season, holidays and a sucessful 2013 ahead!! As you must be noticing, IEEE activities are in full swing and lot of events are happening, either organised by section or one of its society/ affinity group. I just want to list out important updates, for your information:

(1) In month of December, 23 of our members got elevated as senior member. This is a record, not only for Bangalore section but any section in India , that so many members got elevation in a single month!! Heartiest congratulation to all of them and I would like to see many more senior members from section in coming months. It should be noted that event 'SIMPLE"conducted by section in October played a vital role in making this happen as it brought prospective and current senior members at one platform and helped members to apply for their senior membership form properly and got them required references. Section shall repeat such events in future too.

(2) Connected to previous item, I am happy to inform you that we have succeeded in bringing IEEE A&A Panel meeting to Bangalore, in month of March 2013. This is the panel which decides about elevation to semior membership. I wish all our eligible members apply for senior membership in next few days, so that their application can be considered at March meeting and all of them get elevated in their membership status. This prestigious meeting is happening in India only for second time. It is coincidence that first time it happened in 2006 at Bangalore only.

(3) IEEE Bangalore section has decided to have annual internation conference CONECCT as its flagship event. The first of the series is happening from 17th January to 19th January. Despite the fact that we are organising its first time, we received 458 research papers from various geogrophies, out of which 74 have been selected for the conference.

(4) Section is planning to exclusive job site for IEEE members to support in their career movement and also social networking site to enhance interaction between members. I strongly believe that as a community we can support each other immensely if we come closer. Please wait for updates on same.
