Hey everyone,

Just wanted to give you an update on where we stand. Our submission to Google was made this afternoon by the Mayor, and we feel very positive about the information presented there.

It was complete, concise, and made a very convincing case for Baltimore. We focused on our unique features: great applications possible here, access to city conduits, and our strategic location in the Baltimore/Washington corridor and proximity to regulators in DC.

The RFI response was relatively concise and very data driven. We took great care to ensure that we gathered accurate and complete data and worked with multiple partners like the Greater Baltimore Committee (thanks, Don Fry) and the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore (thanks, Tom Sadowski, Shannon Landwehr, and Brad McDearman) to ensure we had the most up-to-date statistics and sources.

We then worked hard tonight to put up a compelling visual presentation for Google. We will be making a big deal out of it, and pushing some other press releases, on Monday. (Friday night is a dead-zone for press stories.)

AND... this would not have been possible if it were not for all of US who volunteered their time, tirelessly, to make an exceptional case for our area. It reflects the talent, passion, and skill of our area and is perhaps the best testimony as to why Baltimore is perfect for Google's investment in 2010.

We need to single out a few people at City Hall: Babila Lima, special assistant to the Mayor, who helped coordinate the City's response; Mr. Andy Frank, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development; Ms. Kaliope Parthemos, incoming Deputy Mayor for Economic Development; and of course, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who quickly grasped the importance of this opportunity.

And our volunteer team has been amazing (apologies if I miss you; we're already celebrating): PJ Glennon, Charles Martucci, Tom Loveland (as "The Czar"), Jon Lesser, Jim Novak, Patrick Roanhouse, Rob Wray, Emil Volcheck, Gary Davison, Buzz Merrick, Mark Wagner, Jason Pyeron, Sam Zappas, Mario Armstrong, Robin Truiett-Theodorson, Gordon Steen, Heather Sarkissian, Chip Dizard, and John Ferguson.

Thanks again, everyone. We're not stopping here. This is just the beginning.

Dave
