I took home the following tips from last night's session.  I encourage the other attendees to share as well.
  • tmux as a replacement for screen.  Similar capabilities, actually useful vertical split.
  • less.sh for colored less output.  Distributed with screen ( /usr/share/vim/vim72/macros/less.sh ).  Copy to ~/bin/vless (or somewhere else on your PATH) and use like less.
  • inconsolata appeared to be the preferred font (I've still been using monaco which I'm not particularly happy with)
  • Evernote is freaking awesome.
  • zsh as a replacement for bash (or possibly as an inspiration for customizing bash).  Bryan has some great scripts in his zshkit repo: http://github.com/bryanl/zshkit

Bryan and I did most of the sharing so I'd expect others to have larger lists.  Thanks for coming out guys.

* homebrew for mac os package management
* keyboard shortcuts
* Evernote - wow
