I would like to make you aware of an exciting opportunity for graduating Biomedical Engineers. The VHA Healthcare Technology Management Program Office is happy to announce that we are now accepting applicants for FY26 TCF Biomedical Engineering trainees! The Technical Career Field (TCF) program is a national workforce development program within the Department of Veterans Affairs, the aim of which is to help replenish technical staff in critically identified positions. Individuals selected follow a formal training plan for two years during which they are trained, coached, and supervised by a preceptor. Preceptors are selected annually, through an extensive application process, for their technical expertise, commitment to training, and the suitability of their facility as a training location. Selectees will be required to sign Mobility, Training, and Continued Service Agreements.
Job duties for the Biomedical Engineering TCFs include evaluating medical equipment, managing the medical equipment maintenance program, and coordinating new medical technology implementations. Throughout the training program, the selectee will develop abilities to effectively support and advance patient care by applying both engineering and managerial skills to healthcare technology. While developing these skills, the selectee will receive assignments to prepare for higher-level management and leadership responsibilities. Promotion potential exists to the highest levels within the Biomedical (Clinical) Engineering career field. Career advancement can take TCF graduates to all regions of the country and toward numerous healthcare leadership roles.

Hello,
I wanted to quickly follow up regarding the "FY26 National VA BME Flyer Site Locations" attachment I sent earlier. There is a typo in the qualifications section stating that the degree must be earned by Sept. 1st, 2025. The correct date should be Sept. 1st, 2026. Please see the updated flyer attached.
