For this month's 'Innovation Spotlight,' we honor Notre Dame's faculty for their innovative research that is increasingly producing impact.
During fiscal year 2022, 19 technologies developed by faculty were licensed to companies. These licenses were executed through a record-breaking 14 license agreements, exceeding the previous record of 13 set in 2018.

| McCloskey New Venture Competition enters its 23rd year at Notre Dame.
McCloskey is a competition for Notre Dame students, alumni and members of the South Bend-Elkhart community and serves as an opportunity to test the validity of ideas and innovations and allows them to develop skills directly transferable to the commercial market.
Submissions for the McCloskey New Venture Competition are now open!! Students, alumni and community members are eligible to participate. Register with your ideas and innovations before the October 25th deadline. |

| Congratulations to heARsight, LLC, winners of Aurora's 2022 RISE Award!
heARsight's mission is to empower people who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing with innovative tools that contribute to better speech comprehension and overall higher quality of life. Their novel idea is a pair of augmented reality smart glasses that provide subtitles to users during in-person conversations!
heARsight was founded by two recent ESTEEM graduates, Danny Fritz and Riley Ellingsen.

Problems that Matter is a fast-paced, cross-functional, creative, human-centered event designed to deep dive into an issue you really care about solving.
This 10-hour sprint gives you time and guidance to create a thorough pitch deck.
If you don’t have an idea yet but want to be part of a dynamic group, come and join a team during the event!
Teams ready to pitch ideas on Saturday afternoon will be competing for cash prizes!
This event is open to Notre Dame and St. Mary's students, high school students and community members of St. Joseph, Elkhart and Marshall counties in Indiana. |

How does it work?
At this event you will pitch your idea to help solve problems in your community. Each pitch will be no longer than 60-seconds and all competitors will compete for cash prizes! No slide deck is needed -- just you and a microphone!

The University of Notre Dame football team will be playing against BYU on October 8th in Las Vegas for its 2022 Shamrock Series game.
The day before this game, the IDEA Center at Notre Dame and BYU Technology Transfer will be holding a joint startup showcase event. At this event, six startups will present to an audience of investors, alumni and entrepreneurs.

In each newsletter a number of the IDEA Center's 150+ startups will have specific needs you may be able to help with. Examples include introductions to subject-matter experts or company advisors, recruitment, board seats or fundraising.
