I'm confused about question 2 on the hw. We are given the shear stress
is 5MPa, is the question saying in a state of pure stress the value of
the shear stress is 5 and the principle stresses are just 0MPa? Or is
this question a branch of question 1 where the angle is 60 degrees and
the shear stress is 5???

The questions says that the shear stress applied to an object is 5 MPa and the normal stresses are 0.It is NOT a continuation of question 1

If its not a continuation then is there an angle we are supposed to
assume to calculate the principle stresses?
