I was just on LMS and I noticed that there are big bold red letter
saying that the "image portion of projects due on Monday of Spring
Break (3/12/12)". Does this mean the due date for what was due this
coming Monday has been changed and it is no longer due on 3/5/12?
Please advise.

For this part of the project do we just need to show that our matlab
code works with any image, or do we actually need to use images from a
working stretching bandage and three-point bending test?

Also, do we need to code to solve the entire problem in matlab? Or do
we just need to get the coordinates and we can do the rest of the
problem out? In that case what exactly do we need to post a video of?

Any image is fine. You may need to stretch the elastic material by hand to get higher strain rates (some bandages aren't stretching very far).

You may try this code I wrote. It uses normxcorr2, a correlation will return numbers from 0-1 with one being a perfect correlation between the template and the whole image. The program then searches for the highest value and prints a grid tracking the movement of all the pieces. Adjust variable 'ps' to change the number of patches it breaks the image up too. Fewer patches will run faster.

Sterling,

Please tell me if my understanding of what's due is correct:

We need to show a video of our code working. We don't have to show the
bandage stretching, so pictures of us stretching the bandage by hand
would be fine.

Is this correct?

You can make a youtube video or up load an image to photobucket, and then put the link next to your name on the google doc we used for the first project.
