Hello BMB'ers!

We hope everyone has been enjoying the relatively cool summer we've been experiencing so far. July's been a pretty eventful month at and around the range; here are a few highlights:

  • Kudos to Predators JOAD and State Archers of California for running a great first California State Outdoor Championships event at Kirigin Vineyards! BMB played its part, providing some of the targets for the event.
  • Santa Clara County Parks installed the memorial bench for Bob DeLong; it can be found near target 3 on the lower field course.
  • Our 3D League Potluck/BBQ was well-attended despite the warm day; medals and raffle prizes were given out, and everyone enjoyed the food and fare off the BMB grill. Thanks to everyone who came!
  • On the national stage, BMB archers found success at the JOAD Nationals in New Mexico, the Buckeye Classic USAT tournament in Ohio, and the National Senior Games in Iowa. Congratulations to the top finishers, and well done to all those who competed!

As we roll on into August, here are your updates for this coming month:

  • The August range maintenance Work Party takes place this Saturday, August 2. If you're not hunting dinosaurs this weekend, please consider coming out to help improve the range that we all enjoy and share!
    • Work starts around 8 AM (late arrivals okay); come find us in the clubhouse/picnic area by the main parking. BMB members and non-members are welcome and appreciated!
      • Dress as if for yard work, make sure you've got plenty of sunblock and water, and bring work/gardening gloves if you have them.
    • To thank our volunteers, we'll be serving lunch and refreshments when work activities wrap up.
    • All parts of the range will be closed to shooting, and will reopen no earlier than 2 PM.
    • Looking to log volunteer hours? Sign up via the Santa Clara County volunteering site.
  • There will no Club Shoot this month, as the regularly scheduled date (next Sunday) conflicts with the Regional 900 tournament.
  • Registration is still open for the Mission Trails Bowhunters Association (MTBA) Regional 900 tournament at BMB, coming up next weekend, August 9-10. Help earn points for BMB as we compete to be 2025 MTBA Club Of The Year!
    • You can elect to shoot on Saturday or on Sunday, or shoot in different equipment classes on each day.
    • Entry fees (per day) are $20 for adults, $15 for youth (12-17), $11 for cubs (11 and under).
    • Find out more about MTBA tournaments over on the MTBA website.
  • Registration is also open for the California Bowmen Hunters (CBH-SAA) State 900 tournament, taking place in mid-September at various locations around the state, including at BMB on September 13-14.
    • As with the Regional 900, you can register to shoot on Saturday or Sunday, or both if shooting in two different equipment divisions.
    • Entry fees (per day) are $43.85 for adults, $22.55 for youth and cubs.
  • BMB jerseys: jerseys can still be ordered through YoungSpeeds (now GNB). Note that it may be some time before enough orders accumulate to meet the minimum batch size for fulfillment.
    • The July order has just been delivered to us, and those whose jerseys were in that batch have been notified.
  • We're still looking for materials to use to build and maintain things around the range. If you have leftover, salvaged, or unused construction materials such as lumber, plywood, metal, and hardware, please get in touch with us!
    • We also need large clean pieces of cardboard for target faces; feel free to drop those off next to the club trailer or behind the food serving counter in the picnic area.

Have a great late summer everyone!

See you at the range!

- The BMB Directors
