urgent: regarding everyone's future.

Hello all !!

I would like to bring to your notice that by now around 80 to 90
companies have visited our campus out of which the no. of financial
firms are significantly less.To be precise, the following are the only
23 such companies .Further, the package & the profile offered by most
of them are below or just satisfactory level.Its an irony that ICFAI
which is known for its MBA in Finance , has a dearth of finance
companies.
Our placements started on 16th Oct ,2011 and it has been almost four
months since we are under tremendous pressure due to the uncertainty
regarding our career prospects. Therefore, its my humble request to
you all to join me in bringing this serious issue in front of ibs
authority/placement committee.Obviously, we can't follow the "wait n
watch " policy NOW !! Its the question of OUR FUTURE ....OUR
CAREER !!!!

placement assistance is not a guarantee.its just an add on to the MBA course.its my personal belief that the placement cell is trying as much as possible if it wont have been 430+ would not have been placed.I am myself not yet placed but doing these meeting with the management etc that also on a working day means we are discouraging their efforts which inturn accounts for gross indiscipline.I do support the cause but its my humble request not do any stupid irresponsible act on anyone's part as we have only few days left for such a wonderful period in IBS to end.placement is a serious concern for an institute when management is already doing a lot of things for the current and upcoming batches to bring the brand name to its originale place lets not spoil this with our untimely and unwanted activities. i hope people who are placed will support me in this.

Hi All

Just to bring one thing in everyone's notice I would like to tell all of you that as compared to last time obviously this time placed to unplaced ratio is less. Last time 38% recruitment was done by banks only and this year 3-4 banks have only turned up. And this year as you can see no company turned up since last month and a half despite of various notices on intranet.

Arranging all this group thing is just to seek a few answers from the management not to do any fuss or drama or scene or whatever you call it. So those who think that its going to be a procession kind of thing or any violent/aggressive meetings then I would like to correct them.

A few questions which I think need to be addressed by the management are:

1. What are the prospects of our campus recruitment?

2. Do we have to wait till march or April? Will that be beneficial as in will companies come then or would that be only waiting period?

3. What else can be done from our side?

I think it is justified from our part to get justification from the management on such questions, obviously in a proper managerial way.

First of all kudos to ashu effort for initiation such thing.

But I will like to reply arunabha's reply that :" placement assistance is not a guarantee.its just an add on to the MBA course ".

First of all there is something which is called " principle of significance ". If someone is getting quality education but remain un/underutilized then the very purpose of education goes for a toss.Education should and has to be productive.

Second IBS is not responsible for those 400 odd students who got placement. Every single student who are here in IBS irrespective of their branch deserve a respectable job.So it is their utmost responsibility of placement to everyone after all they boast alot about their placement ( which I wish come true ). It is their so called USP.

Third I don't know about others but I will be the last person in IBS who will say that my very purpose of IBS is to have a quality education ( no comments on that though ) and not the placement alias Value Added Service.

And what frustrating most is there is never a plan B with placement authorities. Kudos to their effort but their responsibly is only 53% is done.

Hey Arunabha

This is not to question the ability of management or their effort. Neither it is an undisciplined act like holding on flags and marching on them debating with them.

It's Great that you belief so much so do we and when we belief we need not be afraid to just have our queries cleared up in a most peaceful manner rather an informal chat as to what are the future prospects. Going to numbers 350 (approx) are yet to be placed. Thanks for your humble advice and opinion but  I want to again make it clear its not a indiscipline or strike.

Hello all,

Just a small suggestion, which can be added to the agenda if all agree. Students can request the authorities to allow faculty members to bring up the companies in the campus, which is not allowed as of now. But seeing the scenario, management can reconsider their option, as the present situation is really critical.
