Hi everyone,

 

The Oxford Blues 25th Reunion Concert is coming up! It is going to be on Saturday, November 6. We want you all to sing with us, so we'll be having rehearsal to brush up on old songs that afternoon. At this point, we'd like to have the alums sing House on Pooh Corner, Shadows of the Night, Helplessly Hoping, and College (that's a new one, but we'll teach it!). We would sing the last three as a full group. We're open to suggestions, though. 

 

Before the Concert:

 

• I'll be sending out audio files and sheet music for the songs soon so you can get a head start.
• If you have any old photos of the Blues, email them to me.
• Even if you talked to someone on the phone, please RSVP by October 22 using this RSVP Form so that we can keep track of the numbers. If this is the first you're hearing about a reunion concert, visit our Google Group to sign up for more updates.

 

11/6 Tentative Schedule:

• 1-2: Lunch
• 2-6: Rehearsal 
• 7-8: Concert
• 8: Dinner

 

We'll work out details once we have the number of people set, but dinner should be less than $15 excluding drinks. You are more than welcome to bring family or friends. There will not be organized activities on any day but Saturday, so we aren't going to be able to organize accomodations. Please refer to Haverford's list of recommended hotels for suggestions: http://www.haverford.edu/visiting/lodging.php. There will be a small number of couches for people with financial need, available on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you would like to be on the list for a couch, please email me directly.

Really sad I can't make it- in Boston and working that weekend. However, I did have dinner with Marisa Buckley 2 nights ago and hung out with Laura Leanza at the New England Regional Veterinary Conference 2 weekends ago (we met post-Haverford at Tufts Vet School and made the connection) so I guess I'm sort of doing my own private Blues reunion thing...hope everyone who goes has a blast though.

Thanks for organizing this event! These emails are pretty fun to get. I am in St. Louis for grad school and will probably not be able to make it, but we'll see if I can find a nice cheap Southwest flight to come up. My childhood best friend lives in Philly and just had a baby on Sunday, and she has been bugging me to come meet him. It would be fun to combine both of these things! I will definitely reply by the 22nd for sure, though.

It looks like there are a few people who need some more time to figure out if they can come, so I'm extending the RSVP deadline to Monday 10/25. You can still RSVP through the form, or just shoot me an email. If you do email me, could you let me know if you're bringing guests? It'll help me with planning meals.

That said, I need to place the t-shirt order by Friday in order to get them printed before the concert. Even if you're not able to come to the concert, you still order shirts.

Shirts will be approximately $10, women's cut (not juniors'). Email me back with the number and size by Friday.

Liz, I made a reservation at the Courtyard by Marriott in Devon.  (although I'm more than happy to switch if it looks like most of the out-of-towners are coalescing around another option!)  They had a rate of $98 for AAA members.  Otherwise, I think it was $116.

I actually have looked into hotels-  (so glad you're working coming!)   The Bryn Mawr Alumnae House (the closest place) is booked, but the Villanova Conference Center has space. Its not on the Haverford list, but the Bryn Mawr Aluumnae House recommended it.   I checked it out on line and it looks pretty nice (plus its only about 4.5 miles from the 'Ford).  They honor various discounts (AAA, military etc).   At the moment they have various rooms available, some with king beds and some rooms with two queen beds if people would like to consider bunking with other Blues.   Check in is 3. The Oxford Blues 25th Reunion Concert is coming up! It is going to be on Saturday, November 6. We want you all to sing with us, so we'll be having rehearsal to brush up on old songs that afternoon. At this point, we'd like to have the alums sing House on Pooh Corner, Shadows of the Night, Helplessly Hoping, and College (that's a new one, but we'll teach it!).
