Grain Mill - 2" Non-Adjustable
MILL200

Ideal for milling specialty grains for steeping in the Malt Extract brewing process or/and for milling grain for 5 gallon All-Grain batches. This mill features two knurled 1.5" diameter rollers, that are about 2 inches long. The rollers are on bushings and have a pre-set gap spacing which provides a good crush for all grain. The mill mounts on to most standard buckets (not included) and comes standard with a drill adapter. A handle is availible (MILL50), but not standard, as we find most people wish to use a drill. The included hopper is a 8" funnel. With the hand crank attached, the mill will crush about 1 lb of grain a minute. With the standard drill attachment and drill, the speed is more than doubled. BUCKET NOT INCLUDED

109.00 for 2 in.

The Grain Gobbler - A 4" Adjustable Mill
MILL400

A fully adjustable grain mill at an affordable price. At the heart of the mill are two knurled 1.5" diameter x 4" long rollers that rotate in self-lubricated bronze bushings for smooth operation. The rollers are easily adjusted on both ends providing an even gap across the entire span of the rollers. There are 10 pre-set adjustment settings for you to choose from. This mill has the best attachment to a bucket that we have ever seen. It actually clamps down onto the bucket and has a cross bar for your hand, making it extremely stable and easy to use. Comes standard with a drill adapter as we find most people wish to use a drill, but an optional handle is availible (MILL50.) The included hopper is a 1 gallon plastic jar that will hold 3 lbs. An optional stainless steel grain chute is available that holds 8 lbs. Using the optional handle, the mill will crush about 3 lbs of grain per minute. However, hand-crank throughput was not a primary design objective because the vast majority of brewers do use a drill where the output is much faster. Using a drill, the output is 4 lbs per minute at 400 rpm, faster on higher speeds. BUCKET NOT INCLUDED

This mill is very carefully thought out after years of research. We have sold nearly every mill out there including the Glatt, The Valley, The Automatic, The Maltmill, The Phil Mill, etc.. We learned what we liked and did not like and we developed this mill in coordination with Fermentap. The operation is smooth, the adjustment is easy and even across the rollers, the grain is fed to the length of the rollers, it has the best (included) attachment to a bucket that we have ever seen (this makes it stable and easy to hang on to), the output is right up there with the best of them, the quality of the crush is great, the overall weight is light which makes the whole thing easy to handle, and the quality of construction is really high for a unit at this price with free shipping. We know you will be happy with the mill for many years

Grain Mills

Northern Brewers unit.

*Schmidling Maltmill

The mill we use here in the store. Two 10 inch textured cold-rolled steel rollers efficiently pull grain through, and give a professional crush. When cranked by hand, throughput is about one pound of grain in 15 seconds. Hopper capacity is approximately three pounds. Mills are mounted on a wood base that can rest on a bucket (or kettle or picnic cooler), or be clamped or bolted to a work table.

Model P features a preset 0.045" spacing between the rollers, and assures grain will only be crushed enough to expose the contents without tearing the hulls or unduly compacting the malt. It provices an excellent crush on most grain. Model A allows you to change the space between the rollers on one end for an improved crush, customized to your system and grain. Model AA has adjustable spacing on both ends of the rollers for maximum crush control.

Please allow 1-3 weeks for delivery, as all maltmills ship directly from the manufacturer.

Just my two cents. I use the Schmidling mill from Northern Brewer. It has longer rollers than the top two shown below which gives you a larger area to crush the grain which would speed up the process. The standard hopper can hold approx. 3 lbs. of grain but you could rig something up to hold more. I am thing of making something one day. I bought the one that is adjustable on both ends and have set the gap at .050. The crank handle is removable & I have used a cordless drill on the shaft.

Members,

The AA model seems to be the  one for me.  On the anniversary/birthday list for a gift from my great wife.

My second all grain kolsch goes into the secondary today for bottling right after Christmas Day.

It has been so great having success on the last three brews.  The members of BOBS has done the trick, knowledge is great.

Marc

Glad to hear that the club has been a help for you, Marc.

If we can keep people interested in homebrewing and inspire each other to brew, I feel we've accomplished something.
