Friday, December 4, 2015, is the deadline for requesting an alternate cart or to opt out of receiving a cart for the county's new yard waste collection program. Before April 1, 2016, unless you notify the county by Friday, you will receive a 64-gallon wheeled cart if you live in a single-family or duplex dwelling or a 32-gallon wheeled cart if you live in a townhouse.
Neither choosing a different cart size or opting out reduces your solid waste disposal rate.

Do not put yard waste in plastic bags. Let lawn care and landscaping workers know that yard waste should be placed in the new bins, in other reusable contains, or in paper bags.
The Arlington County Board adopted on November 14, 2015 an amendment to its refuse code that will bring year-round yard waste curbside collection services to households beginning April 1, 2016. Read more about the changes at
