Faulty build on Windows.

I deleted my profile and installed v 1.5.1 using the Installer. BG
worked and all was well. Version declared as 1.5.1

Next day BG informed me that there was a software update available. I
ignored this and proceeded.

Another day I found same thing and looked at Help > About. Found
version declared as 1.4.99.2012322 (Perluète Culbutée)
BG invited me to download an update so I deleted my profile
downloaded (exactly the same size as last) and installed again.
Same result. BG at first runs normally but if I reboot it declares the
wrong version No. I’ve not done extensive tests for other differences.

I just repeated this exercise - but without deleting my profile - but
this time installing 1.5.2.
I had the same problem -- BUT I'VE TRACKED IT DOWN.
I nomally open BG from a shortcut on the taskbar.
When I opened it from the exe file directly the problem disappeared.
It looks as if the shortcut (which I didn't re-create because it was
there already) is saving some archive information.

After deleting and re-creating the shortcut the problem does not
recur.

I reckon it is a bug. Shall I report it on Bugzilla?
