Cannot seem to get the borders on my tables properly also. It only does 2 sides. Is there a trick for this as well, not seeing it in the dialog box...

Hi ,
Use the Style Properties Panel.

Select the table (by clicking the <table> tag on the Structure bar
towards the biottom of the window) then on the Panel select what the
style rule is to apply to then open the "Borders" section, select. or
de-select, "Use same border on four edges" and complete the style
rules for colour, size and type.

If you want to want to style table cells then select one first and
make sure your style rule applies to all elements of the same type.
(or, of course you may want the rule to apply only to tables of a
certain class or ID.)

There is a table dialog box opening, which is where I have been trying to do it. I can control the width of the border but not the color on two sides of it. I tried what you said, clicked <table> at the bottom, all it does is highlight the text and shows the size of the table on the top and side of the main body window. Either way, it still takes me back to the same "table properties" dialog box...It shows the size, and layout, but no way to select 4 sides or the color...

I'm still playing with it...Looking for a help section in the program as well so I can do some digging...I need to make this work..

I just saw a "table layout" menu where I was told I had to go online for an Add-on...Then a charge $...Table properties should be where you can make any and all changes to your table borders, and colors. I'm sorry I am just not seeing it...

Wrong place!

True! That's because the Gecko default, as with most browsers, is to
generate an "Outset" border which creates a shadow effect.

That's why I told you to use the Style Properties Panel where you can
create the full range of CSS border effects.

See JoeG's post for the background.

That was only the first part of the instruction. You then needed to
open the Style Properties Panel:

Menu: Panels > Style Properties.

You may have it open in the "Dock" area to the right of the window, if
it is not floating.

Forget that dialogue. It does nasty things, such as, depending on the
DOCTYPE of your page, place invalid code in your file.

There is no direct help except through this GoogleGroup. You are
encouraged to buy the manual:

Wrong menu!

Panels > Style Properties

(Third time lucky and you'll get it - I hope! :-) )

I have a windows and a MAC which I'm using the BG on...I just saw that effect. Looks good on the DELL Win 7..but the MAC shows only 2 borders, the width but not the color. I'm going back in to see what your talking about.

If you would, please post again on the fonts, step by step. I'm unable to resize my fonts or change styles. If I get these two things ironed out I think I'll be okay...They charge for the use manual I noticed, hmmm..

Ok I'm with ya on the tables now. Why would the software designers put that in "panels" instead of "tables"....Beats me...Now back to fonts...

Finally figured it out on the fonts... >panels> style properties> general tab....All the different functions are located here for just about everything with drop down menu's...This would have been a good answer to all who inquire...Simplify it a little so dummies like us can understand it, (:>

Thanks for the help...

Well done! I knew you would!

I thought I had been saying it's all in Style Properties all along.
And JoeG explained why!

However, I can understand that people get fixed into traditional ways
of doing things and don't always realise that for good web creation it
needs to be done differently to creating paper documents - which is
where most people start.

The manual IS a pdf file and only costs a few dollars. It doesn't try to explain HTML/CSS, only how the program works.

The reason that you can't style a table from the Table menu is because a table is a HTML structure. Styling it is something you do with CSS. It wasn't like this in the old days when borders were added within the HTML – but things move on. Web design is dynamic and changing all the time. You have to be running just to stand still ;?)

FrontPage 2000 is thirteen years old. Even the last version of Dreamweaver (CS5) is out of date now and that is only a couple of years old.
