Hi,

I just tried to insert doctype information to the code like:

<!DOCTYPE html>

Blue Griffon (1.5) doesn't accept this when saving the file. What can I do?

Thanks for helping!

As you have discovered, BlueGriffon always saves the file according to
the DOCTYPE found in the file when opened or, if previously unsaved,
according to the settings last selected at either:
File > New Wizard
or
CTRL + SHIFT + N

If you wish to change the DOCTYPE of an existing file you must start a
new document with the required doctype (using either of the methods
above) and then copy across the content from the existing file.

Alternatively, use an external editor to change the doctype before
opening it in BlueGriffon.

Hi Greg,

thanks for your background information, which is very helpful for my understanding. Actually, I used Wordpad to add the DTD to the existing code. Now I understand, why it worked ...
