Good morning! Hope everyone is doing well. I look forward to seeing you all in Raleigh here in a couple of weeks.

As a quick heads up, the Associations and Event Production Meeting has been scheduled for  Thursday, September 26 from 8-850am in RCC 305. I know, I know... There will be coffee and hopefully some light refreshments for everyone as well.

If there are any topics in particular you'd like to ensure are addressed, please feel free to reach out to me or Carolyn Hotte so that we may put them on the agenda.

Thanks again, and see you soon.

I will not be able to attend in person, if there is a virtual/zoom option for participating, please let me know.
Gratefully,

Please note the new time for Bluegrass Associations and Event Producers Meeting.

Wednesday, Sept 25 9:00 AM in RCC Room 305 (IBMA WOB in Raleigh NC)

Given the size of the room, I don't think a zoom would be successful, but I will take notes and share.

Please also consider joining us at "Modernizing Regional Bluegrass Associations" Wednesday, Sept 25 at 2:15 PM RCC 304

This morning, the Leadership bluegrass class of 2024 gave a presentation on how to support Mom and Pop's festivals and smaller events. It was fantastic:

Here are my notes:

Mom and Pop’s Festivals

Kody Norris

  • These festivals hold up the industry

Amanda Cooke

  • Manager made graphic

  • Radio + Consistency helped festival from from a few hundred to a few thousand

Kevin Keating

  • How to bring new people?

  • Many events are aging out -

  • Email marketing great for getting previous folks to come back

  • Social Media is how you find new people-

Thoughts:

  • Resources on IBMA website for festival support - social media, graphic design, regionally targeted ads,

  • Mini grants for festivals - promotion

  • Biggest thing is email groups - communication opportunities Share with Bluegrass Associations and Event Producers - Grants

  • IBMA Artist Ambassadors

  • Festival Maps Google Integration
