Hello everyone,

My program using Bluecove works perfectly on Windows XP and Mac.
However its giving the following error on a Windows Vista machine:

Exception in thread "main" javax.bluetooth.BluetoothStateException:
BluetoothStack not detected

I know what causes this error but I am surprised that Windows Vista
does not come installed with a bluetooth stack. Please help me with
this error since I am new to the Vista platform.

Thanks!

Sorry for the double post. So here is an update. I found a broadcomm
driver download site: http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php
and downloaded the software. However this did not work, as it does not
install and says that device not detected even though dongle is
connected.

Upon searching a bit more I stumbled upon this site:
http://pcdriver.tomp4.com/hardwaredriver/vista-driver/Broadcom-Bluetooth-Device-Firmware-Downloader-(BCM2033)-for-windows-vista.html

And downloaded the file and starting installing it. After starting
install Vista started asking me again that driver not signed, do you
want to install, check anti virus status and what not. Since Vista was
actually preventing me for doing my business I thought this must be
the required file since Vista usually acts against the user.

But I was mistaken again. Now the error message that I get upon
execution of the bluetooth program has changed to:
Exception in thread "main" javax.bluetooth.BluetoothStateException:
Bluetooth Device Not Ready

Vista won again so its Vista -1, Me-0

Please dont let Vista win this war, I want to get my bluetooth dongle
working badly on Vista.

Please help.

:) I know a 100% working solution, Install VMware and under VM
install Linux or XP .

As for me Vista started to work from the begging when I installed
drivers that came with my broadcomm device. I used
http://www.trust.com/. and drive from site.

Another devices I tested comes with MS Mouse. And also works fine on
Vista after installing IntelliPoint.

The only things on vista is that BlueCove thinks that WIDCOMM stack is
MS stack. For this I used special build dlls

So In my case Vista lost 3 times.

Regards,
Vlad

Hi Vlad,

Thanks for your reply. You mentioned that "The only things on vista is
that BlueCove thinks that WIDCOMM stack is
MS stack. For this I used special build dlls" Can you please elaborate
a bit more? Which DLLs did you use. Also am I missing a driver now or
only the DLLs you mentioned since the message I am now getting is that
"device is not ready"

Regards,
Milind
