If you are programming with bluetooth on JavaME, you don't need bluecove. Bluecove is targeting to offer the same functionality of JavaME bluetooth APIs on desktops.

To use bluecove, just add bluecove.jar in your classpath like any library, to work on linux, also add bluecove-gpl.jar

I had a similar kind of the project where a mobile user can use the internet via Bluetooth connection to a desktop. Mobile device doesn't need to have a modem. Desktop has a modem, which not only provides internet data (only HTTP) to mobile devices but also control them. For that i have made some short of proxy server for desktop, which accepts the mobile connection via Bluetooth and send their content of URL requested by them.
I used rfcomm connection (i tried to use obex, but for the some reason its GET method doesn't work properly that i failed to find out).
If anyone needs extra details, plz feel free to contact and it'll be my pleasure to help.

I love Java
