Hey guys, I am developing a bluetooth app as a personal project. I am
using my pc to check for new devices in the area but I need it to do
authentication when a specific device is found.

RemoteDeviceHelper.authenticate(device,"1234"); -> Always returns
false

I read somewhere that I would need d-bus in order to get
authentication services. Where can I get it and how do I "connect" d-
bus with bluecove? Or simply.. how can I make authentication with
bluecove?

Thank you so much

You are trying to connect to a remote machine running linux? On that
machine you would need to accept the pairing. If it has x it should
have a utility to pop up the notice. If it doesn't you can build bluez
with --enable-tools and it will create the simple pairing agent binary
'agent'. You can run "agent 1234 &" and that should stay in the
background and accept all pairings with 1234. I am running bluecove on
an embedded linux device and this is how my embedded device accepts the
pairing before bluecove takes over.

Hope that helps.

Hi Neal,

I'm new to bluecove and bluetooth, I found your reply very interesting, I'm running a debian OS and wish to connect a device with a default passkey before entering my application.
I would like to ask you if you could show me how this can be done or perhaps any sources where I can dig in.

Thank you.

JL Gargantiel.
