In case you were late to the party and wanted to run a carbed VG30 but found the Nissan Motorsports (Saudi) VG30 distributor to be NLA, there is now another option – see below…

Hi

Steve Davis from Davis Unified Ignition just sent this link to me. They have a VG-30 distributer market ready and posted to their website.

Two pathfinders (87&89) sit in my driveway. I was just thinking this weekend how nice it would be have a carb and distributer, something I know I can work on.

Hi Bill,

The test completed successfully since we last communicated!

Have not forgot about you.

Gears are being made and the distributor should be availble in about 2 months.

Will let you know prices and part numbers asap.

Thank-you,

Hi

I have a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder with a VG30. I am seriously contemplating ditching the throttle body and go with a modified manifold made by datsun510.com but they don’t have a distributor.

Does this company have any plans for an aftermarket VG30 distributor?

HEI, points/cond…anything at this point will do. Course I guess I could make one from an old Chevy 6 cyl.

Thanks Bill

Will those tall plug connections on the cap clear a 510 hood?

I had a conversation with Dave Carroll (who does the Pathfinder TB to Holley modified intakes) and he said the racers using his manifold were now using the CAS in the stock EFI distributor to trigger an MSD box for spark control.

There shouldn't be any reason that this set-up with the MSD programmable timing plug-in or even their full blown programmable box couldn't be used with a stock distributor for a street ignition set-up.
