Looks pretty nice. Front or rear sump, removable center section. Double shear LCA mounting.

Does anyone even bother with a QR swap, or are the newer people doing 510 swaps doing the Honda K if they don’t want SR/KA?

I think the QR swap is looked on similar to the current view of the VG30 swap. Torquey, lower revving and not as much fun to drive at the edge.

What makes the Honda K swap of interest is the aftermarket support and it is a higher revving engine. The QR, if revved is not very durable in stock form. It has a small bore and long stoke, basically designed for street use with an automatic transmission and never intended to be "sport driven"

Back when Nissan supported US road racing, they teamed with Real Time Racing to run a QR25DE powered Sentra in the SCCA World Challenge series. Chuck Cunningham of RealTime, spoke at the Nissan Runnoffs dinner and stated that major connecting rod research was needed to make the engines live above 6k. They blew up several before finding the correct combo.

Gotcha. Do you know when this was? In 2007 Nissan redesigned the QR and improved it by a lot (fully balanced crankshaft, no more balance shafts, etc.) , although the rod/stroke ratio remains poor for high RPM the redline was moved to 6800rpm.

I did test drive an ’03 Spec-V (in 2003) and the 6100rpm limit back then was truly a bummer, just when it started to pull good it was time to shift.

The Runoffs dinner was 2007 at Heartland Park in Topeka, KS
