Rusty CV's

Has anyone ever seen this before? I have Futofab CV’s and with less than 1,000mi on them the outers got pretty rusty.  I wire brushed them and then painted all of them but I was unaware that this was even a potential issue.

Dave,
The CV's are raw steel and like all raw steel parts they are subject to rust. Think about parts like brake rotors, calipers and suspension components that are unpainted.

I think your solution is fine.

I've had good luck using engine paint on under car parts (diffs, driveshafts, control arms, struts, etc). It seems to be formulated for good adhesion, even on parts that may not be perfectly prepped for paint.

Ah!   Good to know!  Yeah I used high temp engine paint.

Pulling the full rear suspension isn’t all that bad (maybe an hour of work), so it let me take care of other things while I was at it.
