Hello 'Birds,

Anyone out there have anywhere from 2 to 4 of the gear box mounting bolts available?

12x1.25, 85 mm long.  Grade 9 on the head.

Thanks.

Dave,

Here’s a good source:

https://www.mcmaster.com/91280A183/

Grade 8.8 is appropriate, I think.

Price isn’t bad until you add shipping.

Nathan

I use Bel-Metric for hardware.

They have JIS spec bolts (called "small wrench" on their site). M12x1.25 - 90mm is available.

I have to say thanks to all of you for deciphering my title, since autocorrect clearly sabotaged my gearbox word in the original without my notice.

I had also looked at Belmetric.  I would like the originals if possible, but that provides another good alternative.

Dave Patten - an update for you- the CV axles we put together last spring for my race car worked great.  No loosening issues over three events.  I will be checking everything soon here for this season, but don't expect issues.  It's great not to require disassembling the CVs to remove them from the car.

I'm building a new diff so they'll be out at least once soon to check the safety wire.

Similar JIS option is available via. McMaster Carr.

I’m a bit of a stickler for the correct bolt head size too.

Nathan (preparing a huge bucket of fasteners for replating soon)

David,
Thanks for the CV Axle update. We have since changed our CV Bolts to Stage 8 hardware. They have locking washers that are held on with a clip. No more safety wire. I think the boots are also upgraded from yours, now with a bonded to base boot.

The Stage 8 lock system was designed by the company's owner to keep the exhaust from falling off his Harley.

Futofab CV’s for the win!

If you drive in the rain, you’re going to want to paint them first (I was unaware until they were installed and had driven in the rain
😊). I removed the whole shebang since I went to coil overs at the same time and “while I’m at it” got out of hand, as always.
