I'll be firing up a long dormant red 4-door today.

Yes,

Happy 510 day everyone.

Sounds like great progress Paolo.  I'm working on assembling CV axles for the race car, and hopefully more 510-related projects.

Also remembering Dave Weitz today.

When you see all the attention this little car is getting, the healthy vintage racing scene, parts availability etc., maybe these are the glory days.  I recall in 2002 the event at Monterey, it seemed a high point.  But it's been going strong since.

Now if I can just get a street car going again...

Happy 510 day to all.

I'm getting my SCCA FP/vintage 510 race car ready for an SCCA regional race Memorial Day weekend at NHMS in Loudon NH.

This 510 thing has gotten a little out of control and has kind of taken over my life. My current ownership includes 2 race cars, a street car project and another 2d that is complete and may be salvageable. These are all 2 door sedans. Plus I have 2 complete unibodies, one 2d former race car and a 4d sedan. And if that isn't enough, I decided to build a 73 240Z race car.

Some say I have a problem, so --- Hello, my name is Dave and I am a Datsunholic.

My first 510, 1971 2 door. I've owned it since 1983, became an ITC car in 1987, now a hillclimb car.

My SCCA FP / Vintage 1972 2 door

My 1971 2d street car project. Fresh from the 2nd owners barn to mine.

1970 2 door that might be salvageable, would be a good parts car. Factory Tach, SSS dual carb intake, 5 speed. Another barn find.

I haven't determined the year on this one. I purchased it as it sits. It once hung from the rafters in my barn, it is now in a storage container. It has steel flares on all 4 corners.

A 1969 4d body shell w/flares.

And the 73 240Z race car start.

Hi Dave.  Welcome to the group.  We do not judge here, only sympathize.  Thank you for sharing.  You may have omitted the Futofab part, as that likely is a contributing factor to your addiction.

My personal contribution here is that I spent the day, on/off amidst other activities, trying to start my red 4dr with no success.

Unfortunately the car sat neglected for about two years.  This past month I cleaned,  flushed and renewed the fuel tank, fuel lines, and also rebuilt the SU carbs.  All fuel systems functioning within normal parameters. Planning on the 5-10 day fire-up.

Naturally, with no reason, it would not fire up.  Standard diagnostics showed no spark.  Working forward, I found that the coil had cracked, leaked fluid, and needed replacement.  Fresh one installed.  Still no go.

In the interim, I also cleaned and checked al other engine systems: compression (182,180,177, 182), spark timing, chain timing, etc.  All spot-on and good.

After a long trail of tracking the sparking bits, I find the nearly new rotor in the dizzy had some corrosion on the center carbon contact pin.  Did not conduct.  Replaced part and --- right at about 5:10 PM --  the engine fired right up.  It ran smooth and strong.  Yay!

It has been a good day.

May all your Dimes live long and proper.

Happy 510 Day from Neptune's Net in Malibu! We had four 2-door 510 sedans, a 510 Wagon, and two Bluebird Coupes make the run from Woodland Hills to the beach via Mulholland Highway.  A good time was had by all!
