Probably 905 red, like my original paint '72 2dr. It does have a lot orange in it. Dennis Hale used to call it tomato red. I have a small bottle of 905 touch-up paint that I bought from the Nissan dealer decades ago, and it's labeled Cherry Red. It may be the color 240z guys call Persimmon. 110 red is a similar Z color that I think they call Monte Carlo red. I don't think 110 was available on 510s. Only 905 is listed in the 510 parts catalog, while in the S30 parts catalog, 110 supercedes 905 from 7109.
People used to call Red “tomato soup red” before it’s repaint and….not really wrong IMO. Def not a brilliant red like the Porsche red, struck me as “well, we wanted red but aren’t that serious about it”.
Dave “real red now, baby!” Lum

I'm ok with not really red. Orange seems too bright, and I already have a red car.
I'm going 2 stage, so it might show more of the orange. The pics I see of newly painted persimmon look way more orange than I think I've seen in originally painted and now faded. I wonder how much of the soup color was just 30 years of sun damage.
Thank you all for your input.
