Dear Blueberry Hill Discers,
As I previously posted, Montgomery County is hosting an event (more info below and attached) this Saturday aimed at getting people interested in ultimate. They will have two fields set up, and Bauer Recreation Center is not far from our usual venue (Blueberry
Hill), in Rockville just off Rt. 28/Norbeck Road.
The weather is supposed to be excellent, so I am inviting Rockville Ultimate players to Bauer this Sunday, although I expect that some of them will still go to play at Welsh. I hope the Blueberry Hill ultimate community will consider supporting this event,
time permitting, and register via the link below.
Montgomery County will have some family-friendly activities (like face painting) available, so this may be a good opportunity to invite the family. And as a new event, we really don't know how many "curious" people will show up. But that's not a problem -
we'll just play pickup ultimate at Bauer on a beautiful Saturday.
Please feel free to pass this along to people who may also be interested and thank you in advance for considering this opportunity to expand the ultimate community. I'll call "Game On" to Rockville for 10:00 AM, with the realistic start time of 10:30 AM.
That way people will see ultimate being played when they arrive.
Marc
Volunteers requested! Simply come play ultimate and share your knowledge to community members of potentially various experience. Help expand the ultimate community.
This was posted previously. Details are now updated and looking for some additional volunteers to help make this a success. Thanks to those who have already expressed interest or committed.
The Bauer Rec Center will be hosting a family day event with an ultimate/frisbee focus.
When: Sat, June 20, 11a - 2p
Where: Bauer rec center (outside fields)
What: Victor, the recreation coordinator at Bauer, is requesting help from folks knowledgeable about ultimate. He is hosting a free family event that day open to the community and plans to have two fields set up outside. He is looking for help from us, the
ultimate community, to help teach ultimate basics to community members. There will also be a mini disc golf course, and a frisbee target shoot area. He is currently planning to have face painting, a gaga court, and other fun summer-type activities as well.
This is an opportunity to expand ultimate to the community, and to give back a bit to the community center that has hosted indoor pickup for more than one and a half decades.
If you are an ultimate player who would like to help, please consider giving some time to help make this program a success. Feel free to disseminate to others you think would be interested in supporting by teaching, or simply participating in the program as
an end user (all ages welcome).
For community participants this event is free for both MoCo residents AND non-MoCo residents,
but
registration is requested. Volunteer ultimate players are obviously also free. There will also be snacks and ultimate swag giveaways.
Please consider helping out to make Victor's program a success.
Thanks
