The stone staircase project at Harper's Ferry is underway. Those of you who remember how cool the Mather project was will enjoy the one at Lockwood house, a stone's throw from Highacre. The Park has delivered all the necessary stone, which is sitting on pallets above the worksite, and Cadillac Crew set the inaugural course of steps this weekend.

Given the stone expertise in B&W, we should be able to continue the staircase and finish the project over a few weekends. The Lockwood side trail is much shorter and not as steep as Mather.

Although not on the B&W calendar, Saturday the 26th of June would be a good day to work this project. Check your personal calendars and let me know how many of you would be available that weekend. Also, if anyone is available for weekday work before then, let me know, as it would be nice to maintain the momentum of the project.

This is a really neat opportunity to cut, highline, and set stones for a staircase. If you've not done this before or would like a refresher since the Mather project, this is your chance.

I'll make it on the 26th if I don't get called into work. I work a lot of Saturdays during the summer.

Hey Dan,
I don't know about the 26th; weekends are difficult for me right now. What do you have in mind for a week day? I would like to go up for a couple of days. Do we have use of High Acre? I'm not qualified to lead a work trip involving a grip hoist so I will only go if others are going to be running the show!

Dan,

The weekend of June 25th is when my nephew graduates from high school.  Hal and I are going to upstate NY for the weekend for the graduation and celebration.

Thanks,

Dan,

Alex and I will be in Oneonta, NY on the 26th. attending her nephew's HS graduation.  As for the rest of the summer, we have no available weekends available for additional projects.  We'll try to make most scheduled B&W crew events and attend to our trail section.  Beyond that, we have vacation plans, etc. that promise another very busy summer with every weekend filled.

Saturday, Sept. 18 is open - perhaps a good date for a fall crew party?

The weekday idea is a placeholder if enough people express interest, but the weekend of the 26th is solid.
