An anime television series adaptation produced by David Production aired from July to December 2019 on the MBS's Super Animeism block. A second season aired from July to December 2020. A third season has been announced. The anime television series has been licensed by Funimation.
The Great Cataclysm (大災害, Daisaigai) is an event that happened two hundred and fifty years ago, 50 years before the Solar year 0. During that event, the world was set on fire, and many nations were wiped out with very few habitable areas left in the aftermath. The survivors took refuge in the Tokyo Empire, which remained mostly stable during the period despite losing some of its landmass. The Tokyo Emperor Raffles I establishes the faith of the Holy Sol Temple as it and Haijima Industries developed the perpetual thermal energy plant Amaterasu to power the country.
In Year 198 of Tokyo's Solar Era, special fire brigades called the Fire Force fight increasing incidents of spontaneous human combustion where human beings are turned into living infernos called "Infernals" (焰ビト, Homura Bito). While the Infernals are first generation cases of spontaneous human combustion, with more powerful horned variations known as Demons, later generations possess pyrokinesis while retaining human form. The Fire Force was formed by combining people with these powers from the Holy Sol Temple, The Tokyo Armed Forces, and the Fire Defense Agency, and is composed of eight independent companies.
Shinra Kusakabe is a third generation pyrokinetic youth who gained the nickname "Devil's Footprints" for his ability to ignite his feet at will, and was ostracized as a child for the fire that killed his mother and younger brother Sho twelve years ago. He joins Special Fire Force Company 8, which features other pyrokinetics who dedicated themselves to ending the Infernal attacks for good while investigating Companies 1 through 7 for potential corruption in their ranks. Shinra begins to learn that the fire that killed his mother was a cover for Sho to be taken by the White Clad, a doomsday cult behind the Infernal attacks with agents within the facets of the Tokyo Empire. Company 8 and their allies oppose the White Clad while learning of their goal to gather eight individuals like Shinra and Sho to repeat the Great Cataclysm for an ancient being who manipulated humanity for that very purpose.

In manipulation, a Force user was capable of directing and controlling an already existing flame with relative ease. In 52 BBY, Darth Sidious used the ability to kill Senator Pax Teem, by coaxing a gentle flame from a gas powered fireplace into a raging inferno.[5] Although not directly seen doing so, a dream that Darth Vader had shortly before the Battle of Endor had Sidious creating a wall of fire separating Vader from his son, Luke Skywalker, after revealing his survival.[6] Jedi Master Knol Ven'nari was so proficient in this ability that she was capable of controlling and redirecting an explosion, something that she did in order to save her friends, though at the cost of her life.[7]
The power was neutral in nature, with both Jedi and Sith showing equal ability in its use. Even other Force traditions, such as the Nightsisters of Dathomir, were known to use the ability. This is shown by Dresdema when she attempted to cast a "spell of flame" against attacking Sith, alluding to the existence of a Nightsister equivalent power of Pyrokinesis.[8] Asajj Ventress used this power to make surrounding flames part and create a path she could pass by without any injury, then let them reunite as she prepared to fight Anakin Skywalker.[9]
The fourteenth episode of Fire Force has come out and brings a conclusion to the long night. What terrors were unleashed by the white-clad upon swallowing the bug? How will Benimaru unsow the seeds of distrust implanted into the people who follow him? Find out in my (late) recap and review.
He flies up like a rocket and breaks the sound barrier before trying to deflect the shot, but Arrow controls her flames well enough that she can keep it on track. That was until Shinra got a heroic moment and managed to send the shot off-course while Benimaru incinerated the demon by making an explosion that resembles a crimson moon. Sure, it took all the firepower that Benimaru could muster, but thanks to that they managed to settle thing for the moment.
The night comes to an end and when morning comes the repairs are well underway, but the white-clads did take the chance to burn down the office the 8th came to Amakusa to investigate. Never let it be said they were stupid. But because of them the 7th and 8th Squads have forged an alliance as the episode ends.
Ultimately, things sort of remain in a standstill between the Evangelists and the others. They managed to create another Demon and prevent the 8th from getting information from the office they torched while causing a bunch of chaos. However, they did let it slip that Shinra had an Adolla Link and basically gave away their involvement with what happened in the past, making an enemy of the 8th and giving Shinra another clue as to what happened to his brother.
The second season just launched with its first episode and while some key players are gone, we can expect new names to join forces with the remaining ones and deliver 6 months of high quality spectacle again!
