to Bloomington Geocachers
On Saturday, October 15th, the folks at Paynetown State Recreation Area are hosting a geocaching event at Lake Monroe! There will be caching, canoeing, prizes, a potluck and they even have a band playing afterwards!
Paynetown is about a 15 minute drive from the middle of Bloomington and located on the northside of the lake off of 446.

This event will be a poker run with prizes being awarded for the best hand. This means you will find 5-7 caches and get a random playing card out of each cache. Then we compare cards and see who has the best poker hand & wins.

Event Schedule:
Registration: 1pm - 1:30pm at the Paynetown SRA
Event: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Pitch-in Dinner & prizes: 5pm
50/50 Drawing: 5:30pm
Freddie Shaw Band will play some Blues music from 6pm – 7pm.

Some of the caches will only be accessible by boat, so bring your canoe, kayak, or motor boat. The Lake Monroe Boat Rental has donated the use of three canoes for the event, which people can share. Since not all the caches require canoes, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to share.
If you really want your own canoe, you can check out http://www.imu.indiana.edu/iuoa/rentals_retail.shtml#rentals which is $20/day for the public & $14/day for students. And Lake Monroe Boat Rental is located in Paynetown http://lakemonroeboatrental.webs.com/rates.htm

There are also about 2 dozen geocaches in the area and Jmebd & MonsterCatAmbush hid a few more this weekend, in case you might have found all the older ones out there.

More information about the event is available at http://coord.info/GC33904
You can also RSVP on the cache page.

Hope we might see you at the event!

Jess
