I've been thinking about making a weather command (as have many others, given the "WX" placeholder in the dplus script archive).  The catch is that the message field returned is limited to 20 characters.

How would you go about portraying today's forecast in 20 chars?  Looking for ideas and thoughts here..

I’d suggest looking at the standard aviation METAR weather report format, which could be adopted to encode current locally observed weather conditions into a 20-character packet…

 

Reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/METAR, particularly the section of the article on North American METAR codes.

 

It would be cool if dplus command could query a specified N4XI WXN system for current observation data and return a pseudo-METAR encoded report…
