With the new temporary password sent by email, I managed to connect to my account and I discovered that the password must have at most 30 characters.
There is maybe an issue during the registration time, because he accepted my 34 characters.
A Pianoteq license can be used for 3 separate machines, regardless of their operating systems (windows, linux, or mac). So you will only need to buy one copy and activate both computers using the same key.
this is good news! and if crash system (pc users are not immune from it) then I lose one license to reinstall the system? or we are talking about really acting os? an example of life, now on my pc worth win7 / 64bit system on the hdd, if I later will install ssd, and altered the system, I will lose one license?
You never lose license. You have pair login/password to sign in "user area" at pianoteq.com. From user area you can download latest version of Pianoteq for any OS. In user area you can see your key that used to activate Pianoteq on a new machine. One license is 3 activation slots, so you can simultaneously have activated Pianoteq on 3 machines. From user area you can manage your activation slots.
You are able to de-activate systems in the User Area on the Pianoteq website to free up activation slots, but once you de-activate a particular system, you won't be able to re-activate it without some major system modification (new motherboard/CPU perhaps?).
I think that more than a fingerprint on the PC, Pianoteq registers PC's serial number or something like that on their own servers, I tested several linux live distros before chosing one, activating Pianoteq on every live sesion without losing activation slots.
(A live operating system runs from CD and does not modify the hard disk)
In fact, I use two laptops, one runs MS Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04 (this last does not work properly) and other has Ubuntu Studio 14.10 and Tango Studio, four copies activated on two PCs = two activation slots utilized.

i am using one physical SSD drive for my Windows XP installed working system+softwares
and one other physical SSD drive for begining with Windows 7.
and i swap physically between the two "C:". ( having my datas and "My Documents" in "E:" on another physical drive )
i have 3 physical computers activated, and i am thinking about deactivating the oldest computer i don't use anymore... but i am waiting.
One question :
if i disactivate (definitively) the old PC, what will happen if i buy, in the future, a new license of Pianoteq Play, for example ?
...is it possible to buy some additionnal slots ? This could be very useful, because in an existing CUBASE project, the VST plugin is registered as "Pianoteq 1" or "Pianoteq 4.2" or "Pianoteq 4.5" when using the Pro. If changing for Pianoteq Play, i will have to re-edit the Cubase project for it !
But if having for example 6 activations of the SAME Pianoteq license instead of 3, i keep my registered addons too, and will no have to change something in my musics.
- So is it possible to buy additionnal activations ?
By the way, I was informed that this is a "silent" launch. It's not a secret, but they won't advertise the app for a week or two. They say they are pushing hard to find and fix bugs before the official launch; they are not actively soliciting editorial commentary (yet) but they are looking for problems to fix.
Write to sup...@modartt.com (either by direct email or via their website's Contact Us page). They should be able to help you reset the username and password for their member site (called "User Area" in the topline menu). You'll find your serial number there and it will also list the number of remaining activations you have.
What a great overall way to implement a licensing scheme on Mac and iOS/iPad OS. Respects their existing Mac-based cost structure by not racing to the bottom line of typically very inexpensive iOS prices, and respects their existing customers by not forcing them to buy twice. Win-win.
Yeah, a nice bonus! The more common Ravenscroft approach has the advantage of low cost, but as you say, it's a more limited version, I assume because the full version would not run (or not run well) on iOS (meaning also all the hardware that version of iOS runs on). Though even the low cost advantage isn't an advantage for everyone... since in the case of Pianoteq, if you own the desktop version, the iOS version is free! Not true with Ravenscroft, or anyone else, AFAIK.

I compared it to Korg Module Ivory Grand, Ravenscroft, and Pure Piano. I like Pianoteq 8 much better than the others. It plays better and sounds better. I used the Steinway B Bright and it was fun!
I assumed that Pianoteq was basically non-stereo. So I thought that good stereo sampled pianos would have an advantage over Pianoteq 8. I stand corrected. Listening with headphones, some of the pianos have a very nice stereo spread in the sound, including hearing resonances from the soundboard.
That is basically my interest in it right there, although less so with a new keyboard I just picked up. I can already get glorious stereo from samples, what I really need is non-boxy, non-phasey mono that doesn't lose 30% or whatever volume the second you go mono
Sorry if I missed it, but any mention of price if you *only* want the IOS version? Is that even going to be an option?
No free piano and You can not buy any pack unless You have basic stage pack with two instruments. But the demo with notes missing is ptetty fair. There is a mono option right on the main page but I havent got to test it yet.
Grabbed it onto my phone (which meant I promptly had to go find my glasses). Looks like you need to buy (at least) the "Stage" license, which includes two instruments of choice. The Stage license is 139 bucks, which is pretty pricey (but would make more sense for anyone using it also on computer). I recently picked up Hammersmith Pro during a Soniccouture sale and don't really feel compelled to upgrade on computer, so I'm going to pass on this for now at least.
I have looked for differences with my iPad Air 2, which works reasonably well with Pianoteq, and it seems it has about 40% more computing power (it uses an A8X instead of an A7) and double RAM size (2GB instead of 1GB). Main problem for sure is the CPU power. So, yes, try to set a larger buffer and perhaps also less voices.
This is a new model for iOS music apps... the mobile version as a no-cost addition to the desktop version, with all of the quality and features. Basically a thank you for buying the desktop software, a part of an overall ecosystem where the owner of the plug-in is given some really nice extras.
Don't want to pay big-boy prices for big-boy sound and features? Fine, vote with your wallet. Many folks would be perfectly happy with all the other options for a piano on iOS, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I think it's SO worth the money on the desktop, and the iOS version is the icing on the cake.
Modartt with see how their pricing model works for them. They may consider a change later. Focusing on getting the app installed on many devices and earning more with IAP of the different pianos. But we shall see.
How to use pianoteq sounds in logic pro? I've got an iMac 3.6 Ghz., intel core i5, OS 10.8.5. I want to be able to use my Bluthner piano sound (which is an add-on in pianoteq) in Logic Pro X (10.0.4).
I know I sound like a broken record but there's no channel strip named "instrument" . The closest to that is a channel strip with a name of an instrument that I use at the moment. When I click on it it gives me options like "next channel strip setting" , "previous channel strip setting" and at the bottom there's "legacy" with all logic software instruments but no Modartt.
Peter, you were originally looking at settings for channel strips. Now you've found the place to load Logic's own plus 3rd party instruments. As you see, they are sorted by Manufacturer and not the name of the plugin, which is good to remember.
Also, you can open and save settings for each particular instrument (or effect), once selected. If you click to the left of a slot (eg Instrument) you'll see a little blue triangle appears. This shows that the focus is on that slot and Logic's Library panel will show all of the settings available.
