Ok i just bought a brand new redsail 500c plotter it came with artcut 2009 which a lot of people seem to dislike... now I know why ...I could probably work with it but I don't think I want too. downloaded sign blazer but only has a few drivers (i was using flexi 10 but it doesnt work well wit redsail ...so i am told) anyone know where I can get more drivers for signblazer?
I don't know where you found your version of Signblazer, but the Signblazer version posted here, has many, many drivers including REDSAIL. Look under some of member slice&dice posts. He has posted it a ton of times.
Hey guys - I'm trying to help some friends get their cutter setup (again) in their office. So they were gifted with a Vinyl Systems Specialist 28" GE-721. It was good to go and totally worked before, at this location, with this laptop and setup.
Now the cutter isn't even detected by the laptop. I don't think they quite understand that a cutter can be a fickle thing, and they just keep on plugging and unplugging it, depending on where the designated user is sitting. I've tried all the USB port, checked and rechecked Com Port, and there is a means to "auto detect," which I follow all the instructions, but it still does not detect it. I've gone through a myriad of the turning the laptop and cutter on and off in various sequences, but still no dice.
Is there a separate driver that I should be looking for? In the device settings, under the COM & PORTS. Under either/or of the USB ports (SUB-SERIAL CH340 (COM3) & USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM4) that I plug the cutter into, it's telling me "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)"
I'm about to drag this thing into the parking lot and put it out of it's misery and have them buy a cutter that can actually be supported, and did I read right in another post on this forum, that the Vinyl Systems / Vinyl Express Cutters only cut with the SignMaster software it ships with? I can't even find a workaround in SBE for this? Not that I would know which cutter model to even begin choosing in the settings page
In SignBlazer, you could try the Roland or Copam or LiYu or even the RedSail units. Just choose one and then move to another if it doesn't respond. Yes, you are right, the Specialist machines are dedicated to SignMaster as proprietary software. However, sometimes SBE can run an off-brand unit, ya never know (hundreds of cutters are listed, you might get lucky just choosing down the list at random).
I owned an MH machine that got busted (USB port was damaged when I tripped over the cable one day) and I quickly realized being 'down' would result in my giving up on much more money than a new cutter value.
It's working now, but I still hate it. I can't figure out, in the software, how to minimize the space that the it gives the cutter after I reset the origin. When the cut preview window shows up, it already has some buffer space. I've checked and unchecked various boxes to minimize some of it, but there doesn't seem to way to get it to actually drop the blade and start cutting at my designated 0, 0. It just wastes vinyl. Soon I'll start setting the point of origin off the vinyl.
have you read everything in the Newbie Manual? download in first post, You also need to give more info if you expect to get help. Such as what vinyl cutter? What operating system? USB or serial? What cutting software? Exactly what is the problem? What all have you tried to do? Are you getting an error code? Without the necessary info it's only a guess to help you.
Hi well the cutter is the US cutter MH 871-MK2 and it's running on a windows 7 64 bit. and I'm connecting the cutter with the usb cable and I tried to cut with sign blazer and signcut pro and nothing happens, with sign blazer it shows a message that cannot open the output device, error initializing cutter and well I have downloaded all the drivers that US cutter have for the MH series cutter and nothing have worked and no I don't get any error code. Any help will be like heaven to me. thanks
your computer is not communicating with your cutter. Try a different computer if there is one available. Like I said, put it on serial cable. USB is not the way to go. Once you get it going you will probably still have problems. Go to Radio Shack or another electronics store close by, and get a Keyspan adapter or similar USB to serial cable. A good one.
STEP 1- Navigate to the "Device Manager" on your computer. (if you're using XP you can get there via: Start, Control Panel, then click System, then click on the Hardware tab. Vista/7 click the windows orb, then control panel, then Device Manager) You should see a listing named ports if you have the cutter turned on and plugged in to the PC. Expand the '+' or the arrow symbol to see what is present under Ports. You should see something like "Communications Port (Com1)" and "ECP Printer Port (LPT1)". If you have your cutter connected with a USB cable you'll see something like USB serial device (COM"x"). Double check which com port the PC has assigned it by unplugging the cutter from the computer. You should see the Port disappear. Plug it back in; the one that reappears is the cutter's COM port. (the COM numer should be between 1 & If you don't see the PORTS listing, or you get USB not recognized; your cutter is not connected or not being recognized by the Computer. You need to A: reinstall the driver which can be found here: _m=downloads&_a=view ... and/or B: Try connecting the cable to a different place on the computer. If the cutter is still not recognized, try a different cable altogether.
Idk if this will help or if anyone has found a solution but my cutter was not being recognized on windows 10 it worked with windows 7. so i reverted back to windows 7 and it was still not recognizing the cutter. I tried many cables many drivers everything i could think of but the issue was the usb port was bent if you take the serial screws off the plate(the 2 nuts with threads) on the side and remover the 4 black screws on the inner side of the cutter you can access the board and my port was bent to one side and it had a tab not connecting(Looks like a L on its side) i am assuming its some kind of ground i slowly bent everything back to straight and made sure the tab was touching again and it instantly started working and being recognized within windows.
Hope this helps some people.

To output from Composer 5.0, you will not be able to utilize the GSP Plot output all/output selected function. This does not work in 5.0, but does work in 6.5. You can still output from Composer 5.0 to the cutter, however, using file>print and the cutter driver. The process for this is described in the attached 'Gerber Printing' document.

A Power Driver is used to attach a cutter sleeve to a power drill with a 1/4 inch chuck. This method makes quick work of collecting multiple asbestos samples and makes it easier to sample asphaltic material. Some jurisdictions may prohibit the use of powered sample collection devices.

Thirteen years ago the very capable technosaurus with assistance from the very capable amigo published a pet which "... should remove... unneeded modules from your zdrv", ... a7#p383851. Both that post suggests, and IIRC, at that time both drivers and firmware were always located in the zdrv. I've attached an unaltered version of the last pet published.
Another change is that 13 years ago both the RAM and Storage media available to a user were magnitudes smaller. On the other hand, so was the size of the included libraries. technosaurus wrote of a 20 Mb zdrv. Today, there are fdrv's which (being exclusive of drivers) are in the 300 Mbs range. While the need to reduce firmware and drivers in a system to just those actually useful may have lessened, it still occasionally exists. And as technosaurus put it, some of us are "just the minimalist at heart".
