After starting teamviewer for a while, TV detected that I was using commercial version and limit only 5 minute remote. I tried to search solution fix, and re-install it for several time but no result at all. I'm so desperate with teamviewer now.

Many TeamViewer Free users have endured the unfortunate experience of having their remote session time out 5 minutes into their session with a popup stating that they were suspected of using TeamViewer for commercial use.

Has the relentless "commercial use detected" alert become a part of your daily remote access routine? You're not alone. A vivid account shared by a user on Reddit echoes the frustration many TeamViewer free plan users face with such disruptions: Getting disconnected within seconds despite being unblocked, only to be flagged again for commercial use. This cycle of attempting to connect to a remote computer and being thwarted by relentless software detection has left users exasperated and looking for alternatives.

You might have heard about TeamViewer's bad press related to its cancellation policy. It turns out its issues run so deep that users have started reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. If you are caught in the same mess and cannot cancel your subscription fast enough, what should you do?

TeamViewer users sometimes get a message that the app has detected it is being used commercially. This message is a stop message which will quit the app/end the remote session after 5 minutes of it appearing. If you are seeing this message, make sure;

TeamViewer is a great, free solution for remote desktop sessions. The Windows remote desktop feature often runs into problems and is difficult for many to set up. If you want remote access with the feature, you must be running Windows 10 Pro. This is why many users prefer TeamViewer.

[German]The Teamviewer may be used free of charge in a private environment. Apparently, however, there are always false alarms claiming commercial use and the software is then blocked, although users are running Teamviewer for private purposes.

TeamViewer includes various anonymous detection methods to check if the software is being used in commercial environments. If you regularly use TeamViewer in such environments, you will see the warning that you probably saw before you came to this page.

However, I'm wondering how TeamViewer wants to know if I'm accessing friends' or family's systems or the private computer? The company admits that in some cases TeamViewer may incorrectly detect commercial use and restrict connectivity even though the user has not violated the license terms. Then the form commercial use should be used and the constellation of the TeamViewer use including the TeamViewer ID should be communicated.

I had my license removed when I was remoting from work to my home server which was running Server 2016 at the time. TV support said that I could run Windows home server and remote into that but they were unaware that it had been depreciated for Server 2016 and basically told me that they couldn't help. I ended up resorting to running a Windows 10 VM and rdp'ing back into my server from that, heavy-handed but did the job, and ironically enough they didn't pick up that is was a virtual machine.

I am retired in IT and now I am a sort of free helpdesk for older people who cannot pay for commercial help.
Because I cannot going out anymore I use the Teamviewer to help around 25 people from behind my desk at home.
Almost every 6 month I get that stupid message that they think I am a commercial user and every time a send them a message that I am not.
Why is there not a good administration for this at the Teamviewer office.

I had the same experience, remoting into home PCs from home and helping my elderly mother when she has issues. I believe the problem began when I left a TV window open because I forgot to close it. Filled out the form and was denied for personal use, even after explaining how I use TV.

Then I inadvertently discovered that there is a remote desktop plugin for Google Chrome users and tried using that. It works better than even TV did and I have now uninstalled TV from ALL computers on which it previously was being used and am using the RD plugin for chrome!

For several years, I used TV for personal needs helping my loved ones scattered around the world, altogether 6 computers, 2 PCs, and 4 MACs. At some point, incomprehensible to me, the TV decided that I was using the program for commercial needs and began to refuse communication sessions one by one. My first desire was to buy a TV license, but the price was unreasonable, crazy high. The long story short, I tried about 5-6 remote desktops and settled on the commercial version of Jump Desktop wich for $9.99 runs on an unlimited number of computers, has a minimal number of options for configuration and after standard (default) installation provides fast and stable communication.

I have been using TM to help my elderly mother with various issues on her computer and it worked okay for some short time. But, as soon as I logged in to the Verizon chat to help my mom with her phone issues I got a message from TM that I am using it for the commercial purposes. I think they just want to force everybody to buy their license no matter what, even if you don't use TM commercially.

I had a similar issue, but instead of instantly kicking me out it said my time would be limited to I believe 30 minutes. I contacted TeamViewer using the online form, and a day or so later it got resolved.

Every year they start to block me. Even my usage has not been changed. I only connect to my own computers that is logged in with my teamviewer account. I don't even use it that much, and most of the time it's on my internal network.

There is possibility to provice another MacAddress in my nic driver (properties, advanced, network address). So I changed the macaddress I got indeed a new teamviewer id and it worked again for 2-3 weeks. This new teamviewer ID is now also blocked, so I decided to redo the same procedure and change again the mac address of the nic via the driver.

Agree with the above. Changed once, then once alerted, tried to change it again, defaulted back to the original ID. Theres got to be a new piece in TV9 thats doing this. Just changing the mac no longer works. I even tried a new wifi adapter, same thing!

Well I have figured out 2 things the 1st thing is that if you are using nt6 or later such as vista win7 win 8 etc. as long as you use teamviewer 7 build 14536 or earlier, you can just change the volume id and you will get a new teamviewer id every time. if you use any version of team viewer later than that such as 7 build 15723 or higher e.g. teamviewer 8 9 etc. whatever then it will automatically make that newer id that can either be ID1 lets say or ID2 when you change your mac.

2nd point If you are using nt5 such as windows 2000, XP server2003 etc. All you have to do is install say TV7 build 14536 or earlier first us it once and then upgrade. Once you have upgraded to teamviewer 9 (Note the ID will match the old version) and keep using until you start getting the dreaded 5 minute log off warning, uninstall it completely remove all traces from the registry and then change the harddrive volume id with volumeid.exe, Restart the computer after changing, install teamviewer 7 and you will now have a new ID and when you upgrade back to 9 again it will keep the id.

Basically what I am saying is that you can keep changing the ID in windows vista and higher as long as you have an older build of TV 6 or 7, And you can keep changing the TV ID of any version as long as you have windows server 2003 or earlier.

In versions 6 and early version of 7, they used the Hard Drive ID Number Windows assigns the drive at installation. Perhaps they still use this, along with the NIC MAC address? So, changing only just one of these will ultimately fail.

Going back to using the earlier versions of TeamViewer is fine as long as you do not need to connect remotely to a Mac computer that is running Mavericks. Sadly, TeamViewer 7 and 6 do not work when connecting remotely to Mavericks OS.

Either way, please note that just deleting the TeamViewer files and registry entries and changing the NIC MAC address will NOT be enough to stop the commercial use suspected message from eventually returning. If you use Teamviewer and connect to more than just a few different computers, you will eventually get commercial use suspected.
