Whilst digging around the blogger help pages, I noticed that blogger has a bug that means if you future date your posts, it will still post them up.. unlike my b2 blogger for
Beyond Bedroom Guitar where I can post in advance if I want to and they only appear when the timestamp has passed.
So this got me thinking - if I can post to the blog using email.. then can I send emails to the blog using a free autoresponder (or one of my own... paid versions!!).
So I tested it quickly and wowser it works fine.
The routine would be;
Set up an autoresponder with your intended blog posts at the intervals you want whilst your away on vacation, at a seminar, or whatever. Then add your blogger secret email address to the autoresponder subscriptions when you want the posting to start.
If each message was topical for a niche and had affiliate links in it, your blog readers would not miss out whilst you were away and if your setting up a moneyblog the whole shebang could be automated and you only need to update it once in a while - say every two/four weeks with fresh content.
The blog entries could be articles perloined from others with your own twist.
The possibilities are endless.
- Two autoresponders - one with niche affiliate type info, one for an article or general piece... both publishing that day (keeping the search engines happy at the fresh content).
- Use a bit of php to autogenerate content in your blog from RSS/Search feeds.. Say twice a week with the subject as News on Niche for Date)... These are some of the headlines for blah on (Date).
Of course you need your blog to be worth people subscribing to in the first place!
